The Minnesota Timberwolves are having an unsettled opening week in the 2025-26 regular season. After opening the season with a win against the Blazers, the Wolves slipped against the Lakers, whom they showed the door in last season’s playoffs. So after winning against the Indiana Pacers in a close game, the Wolves wanted to extend the win against the Denver Nuggets tonight. But a major injury update on their star player could derail their campaign as things do not look good.

Will Anthony Edwards play tonight against the Nuggets?

The Minnesota Timberwolves will be without their superstar Anthony Edwards for their Monday night matchup against the Denver Nuggets. Edwards suffered the injury during Sunday’s victory over the Indiana Pacers, playing just three minutes before exiting the game.

According to ESPN’s Shams Charania, the guard will miss approximately two weeks with a right hamstring strain. Subsequent evaluation revealed a hamstring strain that will keep him sidelined until at least November 9th. The team had to rule him out for Monday’s game against Denver and expects him to miss a minimum of six to seven contests during his recovery period. Edwards is expected to be re-evaluated in two weeks.

This timeline means the Timberwolves will be without their leading scorer for key matchups against the Lakers, Hornets, Nets, and Knicks, and more, during this early-season stretch. What’s worse is, the Wolves will play at least 4-5 away games during the period. The injury comes after Edwards opened the season with spectacular performances, scoring 41 and 31 points in his first two games, respectively.

The Timberwolves will need other players to step up in backcourt roles in Edwards’ absence. The Denver Nuggets enter Monday’s contest with a relatively clean bill of health. No major injuries have been reported for the visiting team following their victory over Phoenix on Saturday. All key players are expected to be available for the Northwest Division showdown.

Predictions for tonight’s Timberwolves vs Nuggets

The Denver Nuggets are coming off their first victory of the season, a dominant 133-111 win over Phoenix on Saturday. Nikola Jokic recorded a triple-double in that game with 14 points, 14 rebounds, and 15 assists. Jamal Murray leads the team in scoring through two games with 23 points per contest. This gives the Nuggets an edge as the Wolves will have to start without Ant. Minnesota will look to cash on Julius Randle, but if the team is demotivated, expect the Nuggets to take it home unless they pull off a miracle tonight.
