The NBA Playoffs can be a stressful time. The stakes simply get higher than they are during the regular season. And it’s not just players who feel the pressure. Their families are affected by it too. That’s why finding the right way to occupy yourself when things aren’t in your hands is important. And well, that’s what Savannah James has managed to do. Even as her husband, LeBron James, goes through something he’s never faced before.
Tonight, the Lakers kicked off their postseason against the Minnesota Timberwolves. This is the 18th time in his career that LeBron James is in the postseason. But as someone who has been at his side for the entire journey, this is also Savannah James’ 18th postseason. And at this point, she’s got the art of distracting herself down to a science. And this is all evident from one look at her Instagram story.
The first story she shared was a clip of Nicki Minaj on an IG Live reacting to a comment. “😂😂😂😂,” Savannah added as the caption. The next one was a repost of her Everybody’s Crazy podcast co-host, April McDaniel’s Reel. It showed two of the same clips of McDaniel singing along to a song. “Life if they like you,” and “Life if they don’t like you,” read the captions for those clips. And Savannah James seemed to agree with the unbothered vibe April was putting out. “Purrr,” wrote LeBron’s wife as she re-shared the post.

As LeBron James plays game 1 of his first-round Playoffs series against the Timberwolves, it seems Savannah James is embracing the carefree lifestyle. And good for her! After all, as his biggest supporter, she’ll always be at his side. Even if her social media accounts don’t always reflect that. However, after tonight’s game, LeBron may need her support.
That’s because the King made history tonight in the Lakers’ loss to the T-Wolves. But it won’t be something he’s going to be celebrating anytime soon.
LeBron James set an unfortunate personal record in the Lakers’ loss to Minnesota
Tonight, the Timberwolves ended up blowing out the Lakers by 22 points in a landslide 117-95 victory. LeBron finished the game with 19 points in 36 minutes. Sounds like a decent game from a 40-year-old playing in his 18th postseason right? Wrong! LeBron James did something tonight that he’s never done before in his NBA career. And he’s probably hoping it doesn’t happen again.
In the first quarter against the Timberwolves tonight, LeBron James finally showed that he’s human. The King did not record any points, rebounds, or assists in the first. The T-Wolves held him to 0 points from 2 attempts off the floor. Throughout the first quarter, LeBron only managed to record one steal, even though he played around 10 minutes.

LeBron's 18th postseason—Is Savannah James the unsung hero behind his enduring success?
Have an interesting take?
Even when LeBron James dropped a mere 7 points in 24 minutes against the Pacers back in 2014, he had a better showing in the first. For someone who’s in GOAT conversations all the time like LeBron, this almost seems unreal. However, the fact that he’s 40 is always something we need to consider.

After all, most players at this age have their feet up on the coffee table as they crack open a beer to watch the Playoffs. But LeBron is actually still playing in said Playoffs despite it being his 22nd full season in the NBA.
Besides tonight’s game, LeBron James has logged 287 postseason games in his career. Let that sink in for a second. That’s basically three full regular seasons worth of playoff basketball—on top of the 22 seasons he’s already played.
And here’s the wild part: LeBron has never missed a playoff game. Not one. Through injuries, deep runs, Finals battles—you name it—he’s been out there, night after night, carrying the load when the lights are the brightest.

Longevity is one thing. But doing it at this level, with that kind of consistency in the postseason? That’s greatness in its purest form.
Despite a poor first quarter, he did well to recover later on in the game. Even so, tonight’s loss against the Timberwolves was tough. And the Lakers and LeBron will want to put this behind them as they focus on the second game of the series against the T-Wolves.
