The Milwaukee Bucks will do anything to keep Giannis Antetokounmpo. That was proven when they travelled thousands of miles, just to sign Thanasis Antetokounmpo to a standard contract. Signing his elder brother was seen more as an incentive for the Greek Freak. Having family around is vital, especially since Mariah Riddlesprigger and his children have apparently settled in Greece.

So the Bucks decided to make another move. They are bringing more family besides their cornerstone. According to Shams Charania, the Bucks have signed his younger brother, Alex Atetokounmpo, to a two-way deal for this season. It will allow the 24-year-old to shuffle between the NBA and the G-League.
The Bucks also made history with Alex Antetokounmpo’s signing. According to Charania, “This marks the first time in NBA history that three brothers are on active roster contracts with the same team,”. It seems to have become quite a theme in the league recently. It began with LeBron James and Bronny becoming the first father-son duo. Now, even Seth and Stephen Curry are back on the same team.

The two-time MVP has always had some family around in Milwaukee. Technically, even Alex has spent time with the franchise. Prior to a two-way contract, he spent two seasons on their G-League team, the Wisconsin Herd. However, this is the first time he has had an opportunity to share the floor with his elder brothers.

The opportunity may be seldom. Thanasis Antetokounmpo isn’t a consistent rotation player. Yet, his presence in the locker room has been praised by several Bucks players. In all likelihood, this is the Bucks’ final card to convince Giannis Antetokounmpo to remain with the franchise. But the NBA community isn’t pleased with the move.

NBA fans berate the Bucks for trying to please Giannis Antetokounmpo
The Milwaukee Bucks’ offseason was dramatic. Up until the very end, they didn’t know if Giannis Antetokounmpo would be on the team. Recently, reports swirled about the Greek Freak wanting to join the Knicks. In such high alert situations, the Bucks shuffled their roster and made moves to keep their cornerstone happy. However, the NBA community didn’t appreciate their latest move.
“It lowkey looks like they care more about keeping Giannis from putting in a trade request than putting the best 18 players together,” one fan wrote. Having signed both of his brothers, the Bucks’ offseason have included strategic moves. But they also signed Myles Turner, who is showing great promise as a Bucks.

Another fan mentioned, “He said if you’re not gonna give me a championship roster, let the nepotism cook baby!,”. No reports claim Giannis asked the Bucks to make these moves. Moreover, the Greek Freak is “locked in” for this season with the Bucks, believing they can contend. Still, fans felt, “Giannis really employed his entire family on the Bucks,”.
However, it’s the Bucks who are getting dragged around by fans. “Bucks out here running a family business instead of a basketball team. Bucks are far from a championship team until ownership gets serious about building a winning squad,” one fan wrote. Looking at the star power, several teams have more decorated rosters. Still, Giannis Antetokounmpo has been the most dominant force for the past two seasons. Moreover, Myles Turner adds an interesting dynamic with his three-point shooting.
The rest of the roster are players who can specialize in roles. Gery Trent Jr. and Taurean Prince are capable of being good defenders. Kevin Porter Jr. has evidently improved his playmaking during the preseason. And the Bucks are still among the best three-point shooting teams in the league. The chances are slim, but with the Greek Freak as determined, they could crash the East.
