Fresh off winning their first-ever NBA Championship, a huge summer awaits the Oklahoma City Thunder. A team built on a young core, the OKC Thunder’s next daunting task is to secure its core team, which includes Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, Chet Holmgren, Jalen Williams, Alex Caruso, and, of course, their 23-year-old forward Jaylin Williams, whose $2.1 million team option was declined by OKC earlier.

Well, the news is that the OKC Thunder have successfully locked Jaylin for three more years in Bricktown. Once the $2.1 million team option did not work out between the two parties, the Thunder were quick to offer a multi-year contract to the 23-year-old. As per Shams Charania of ESPN, OKC has signed Williams on a 3-year, $24 million contract after negotiating with his agents Marcus Monk and Sean Kennedy of Excel Sports.

“Oklahoma City Thunder C/F Jaylin Williams is signing a new three-year, $24 million contract extension with the franchise, sources tell ESPN,” Charania broke the news. Coming off a championship win and signing a multi-year contract on your birthday, of course, it was a special day for the Thunder’s C/F. But it was his girlfriend, Alanna Harris, who made the day even more special for Jaylin with a heartfelt gesture.

Sharing Williams’ extension news on her IG story, Harris was speechless and reacted with 🎉🎉⚡⚡💙💙. A few hours later, Harris also shared a couple of pictures of Williams celebrating the extension with a cake, OKC written all over it. She captioned the images “Best. DAY. EVER.”

The 23-year-old averaged 5.9 points along with 5.6 rebounds and 2.6 assists in 47 games last season. Although he did not get much playing time in the playoffs, his stats aren’t too bad for a rotation player. “Williams showed his value as a depth piece for the Thunder, even in the postseason, Charania wrote.

Not to mention, Jaylin also made a huge impact from the sidelines. He’s the glue that sticks together this OKC team by motivating them. So, this seems like a totally deserved payday for the Thunder center. Moreover, it’s a win-win situation for both parties, as the OKC Thunder gets a reliable backup option and William gets long-term financial safety.

Meanwhile, apart from winning his first ring and inking a new lucrative contract, Jaylin Williams also turned 23, giving his close ones more reasons to celebrate!

Entering his third year with the Thunder, the former second-round pick wouldn’t have expected winning his first championship, signing a new contract, and having the time of his life when the season started. Nonetheless, here he is, as Williams will try to cement his place in this star-studded OKC roster and aim to add another ring to his collection next season.
