The Minnesota Timberwolves finally looked like their old selves on Saturday night, as they snapped their two-game losing streak against the Charlotte Hornets. Now, the Wolves will look to build upon this win tonight as they hit the road to face a rebuilding Brooklyn Nets team. Although it should be an easy dub for Minnesota, given that the Nets are 0-6 so far this season, that might not be the case tonight.

It is because the truth is that the franchise has struggled without its starting shooting guard, Anthony Edwards, for the past few games. Ever since the 24-year-old suffered a hamstring injury, Minnesota hasn’t looked comfortable. Which brings us to an important question: Will he be suiting up tonight at the Barclays Center?

Is Anthony Edwards playing tonight against the Nets?

Well, no. Ant-Man will not be playing tonight against Brooklyn because of his hamstring injury. According to ESPN, the three-time All-Star is set to miss at least two weeks of action before making a return to the court, but the good news is he’s been cleared for basketball activities, as per Marc Stein.

Minnesota has ruled Anthony Edwards out tonight against Brooklyn but has cleared him to return to basketball activity,” he wrote on X. As expected, this is a massive blow for the Timberwolves. In fact, his absence has been pretty evident during the back-to-back losses against the Nuggets and the Lakers.

Nonetheless, that should not be much of a surprise given just how important Anthony Edwards is to his team. Despite missing each of Minnesota’s last three clashes, Edwards still is the team’s second-highest scorer. In the three games he’s played this season, the youngster has been averaging a solid 25.7 points along with 4 rebounds and 2 assists per game.

So, it’s only obvious that his team has been missing his production. While Donte DiVincenzo has replaced ANT, his production isn’t at the level of the 24-year-old. Still, it is something that the Wolves will have to work with until Anthony Edwards makes a return to the court. Nonetheless, now that we know Edwards won’t be playing tonight, why don’t we have a look at the rest of the players?

Nets vs Timberwolves injury reports before tonight’s game

Well, there’s good news for the Minnesota Timberwolves in terms of other injuries. That’s because Chris Finch’s side will miss no one else apart from Anthony Edwards. As for the Brooklyn Nets, they do have a few injured players on their roster. This includes the likes of Danny Wolf and Haywood Highsmith, both of whom are expected to miss tonight’s game.

While Wolf is out with an ankle injury, Highsmith is experiencing swelling in his knee and will be re-evaluated in about eight weeks. Now, that’s not great news for the Nets, but it might get even worse for the young team. That’s because Brooklyn’s guard Drake Powell might also be on the sidelines tonight. That’s the 20-year-old former North Carolina star suffered an ankle injury against the Sixers last night.

After this, he exited the game and did not return to the court. Although there has been no update on Powell’s injury since, it seems unlikely he’ll play back-to-backs after suffering an injury last night. So, will these injury problems prompt Brooklyn’s head coach, Jordi Fernandez, to make some changes tonight? Let’s see it for ourselves.

Match preview and prediction

Well, despite being without their starting shooting guard, it’s safe to say that the Minnesota Timberwolves have the upper hand in this clash. Of course, this has to do with not only the fact that they are coming off a win into this game, but also because they have a much complete roster than the rebuilding Nets. So, given that Brooklyn is yet to win a game, it’s hard to expect to pull off an upset tonight. However, you never know what could happen, so we’ll have to wait and watch how this game works out tonight.
