The Golden State Warriors are going through another rough patch this season, having now lost four games in a row. Two of the last three were against the Utah Jazz and the Chicago Bulls, two teams that should’ve been beaten even without their main stars. The Dubs clearly are missing their talisman, Stephen Curry, who remains sidelined with knee issues. Along with him, they’ve had other injuries. Amid such adversity with the 32-34 team, Steve Kerr and the front office have added a player to their frontcourt.

According to Shams Charania of ESPN, the Warriors are signing Omer Yurtseven to a 10-day contract on Saturday. The 27-year-old Turkish center, who plied his trade in the EuroLeague earlier, moved to the G League last week, and he instantly made an impact.

This move by the Dubs comes right after Al Horford’s calf strain on Friday against the Minnesota Timberwolves. With Kristaps Porzingis’ uncertain future due to his endless durability concerns, the Warriors were desperate to add another center to the mix to cover for Horford, who is expected to miss a few games.

Yurtseven is no stranger to the NBA, having already appeared in 113 games for the Jazz and Heat. The Turkish big man has a career average of 5.0 points and 4.6 rebounds while clocking 11.8 minutes per game.

Yurtseven was impressive in the G League on Friday. He finished with 36 points, 12 rebounds, three blocks, and two assists across 29 minutes for the Rio Grande Valley Vipers in a 128-101 victory over the Salt Lake City Stars. This was his third consecutive double-double ever since returning to the USA.

Before his G League stint, though, the 27-year-old was with Panathinaikos Athens. Yurtseven will now look to impress Kerr during his short stay with the Warriors, but given the team’s injury concerns, his stay could be extended.

The Golden State Warriors suffer multiple injury threats in defeat vs. the Timberwolves

While the Warriors suffered their fourth consecutive defeat to the Timberwolves, it was not the biggest concern of the night. Their injury list kept growing. Firstly, Draymond Green was a late scratch due to a lower back injury. He has previously missed games this season due to lower back soreness, and it appears that the issue has resurfaced for the veteran.

The situation only got worse when Seth Curry, who has been on the sidelines for larger parts of the season, limped his way into the dressing room in the second quarter with left adductor soreness, while Quinten Post suffered a left ankle sprain.

“We’re going through it,” Kerr said after the game. “We’re about as beaten up as any team I can ever remember.”

Curry is missing the next four games, at least. The star point guard was evaluated a couple of days ago, and, according to reports, he will miss another 10 days due to the knee issue, taking his total games missed this season beyond 25. Without the two-time MVP, the Dubs have not been the same. They seem to lack the intensity and leadership that the 38-year-old brings to the court and also to the dressing room.

Life is only going to be tougher for the Warriors, who’ll tip off a six-game road trip this weekend in New York.
