It doesn’t feel the same with the Milwaukee Bucks missing the playoffs for the first time in a decade. That’s why the spotlight is on the biggest offseason what-if there is. For a long time now, the rumor mill has been rife with Giannis Antetokounmpo leaving the Bucks for the Los Angeles Lakers. However, the Greek Freak might prefer a different destination.

Giannis was on Goran Dragic’s podcast when the two-time MVP cleared the air around all the trade rumors. Armed with the right questions, the Miami Heat legend asked Antetokounmpo to pick a favorite vacation destination between Miami and Los Angeles. Giannis wasn’t vague in the least.
“Miami, Miami, Miami,” the star power forward said. “I think LA is superficial. I don’t like LA.”
Even though he was talking from a vacation perspective, Miami just seemed like a better place for a change, according to Antetokounmpo. He said that it is a “beautiful city,” and that it’s not a bad place. All of this comes after the power forward himself has done nothing to indicate that he is staying at Milwaukee, after reportedly having asked for a release many times this season. And with veteran head coach Doc Rivers stepping down, the possibility of his exit started to look more real.

Even though Antetokounmpo is inclined towards the East Coast, the Lakers will not back down if he becomes available. They have a pattern here: Shaquille O’Neal, LeBron James, and Luka Doncic, all superstars, who left their former teams when fans least expected it. And let’s not forget the time they got the Kareem Abdul Jabbar from the Bucks in 1975. He won four championships with the Lakers after winning one with the Bucks. That’s how devastating this trade could be.
The Athletic reported that Antetokounmpo and the Bucks are headed for a “divorce” this summer, and ESPN’s Shams Charania also confirmed that the two sides had entered a stalemate, following the team’s refusal to allow the power forward to resume play after injuring his knee. Plus, it’s just been a ridiculous season overall. Antetokounmpo is eager to take his talents while they are still there to teams which can make good use of them.
However, Lakers action is something that the Milwaukee tallsman wants to be part of.
Giannis Antetokounmpo feels “left out” as LeBron James drops ode to “legacy”
King James makes very smart choices when it comes to when and how to leverage his fame. Recently, he kicked up a storm online after he posted a collaboration with famed director Christopher Nolan’s upcoming blockbuster, ‘The Odyssey.’ LeBron embodied the Matt Damon character, King Odysseus. Bronny, who matched his father’s suave play, is the Telemachus in this story, who is on a “journey of his own.” It signified how the younger James is carrying forward his father’s legacy, while also carving a name in history for himself.
Antetokuonmpo chimed in the comments, because this was the perfect ad for him too.
“I feel left out,” he wrote, with a laughing emoji. After all, he was born and raised in the country that the epic story comes from. But whether or not this desire to be a part materializes into him going to the Lakers is something that is still uncertain.
According to NBA Marc Stein, James, Antetokounmpo, and the Clippers’ Kawhi Leonard have very high chances of finding new teams this year. Should James leave, bringing a star like the Bucks forward could easily help stabilise things for the Lakers. They’ve been known to pull off the most unsuspecting trades before. That’s why a chance of Giannis Antetokounmpo suiting up in the yellow and purple can’t be dismissed just yet.
