The NBA Regular Season is over, and now the interesting period of the tournament begins! Despite having a major comeback by turning around their win record, the Golden State Warriors failed to secure a playoff qualifying seed for the 2nd year in a row. Fret not, however, as all they need to do is win their upcoming game against the Memphis Grizzlies to enter the playoffs. Amidst the already existing excitement behind the matchup, is there anything else that can make the Play-In series interesting for the fans out there? Well, a Jayson Tatum partnered brand heard the news and decided to take that challenge up.
A few days ago, renowned personal finance company SoFi Technologies, Inc. announced that it will be offering giveaways of up to a whopping $1 million during the NBA Play-In Tournament Week, which is also being sponsored by SoFi itself! This initiative has been launched to celebrate the introduction of SoFi Plus, a new premium membership available to SoFi checking and savings account members. Under this scheme, which celebrates bank members who might also happen to be NBA enthusiasts, SoFi will reportedly add $10, in rewards points, “for every bank shot made during the tournament to the first 5,000 members who sign up”. Anyone who signs up for a subscription between April 10-30, 2025 can avail of this scheme to get up to $200 in SoFi Rewards Points (Terms and Conditions, of course, apply).
The bank shot involves intentionally launching the basketball in a way so that it hits the backboard and then goes into the net. As highlighted by an EurekAlert! report published back in 2011, bank shots were found to be more effective from the “wing” areas between the three-point line and the free-throw lane. If there is anyone who excels in the 3-point area, it is the Golden State Warriors squad.

The team ranks 2nd, only behind the Boston Celtics, when it comes to 3FG Freq% in the 2024-25 season, with the squad having averaged 46.9%. Furthermore, the Warriors boast no one other than Stephen Curry, the All-Time leader in 3-pointers. In the recent regular season alone, Curry has averaged 4.4-11.2 (39.7%) 3-pointers. Therefore, anyone who signs up for SoFi Plus during the given period can certainly expect some major points to come their way. After all, if there is one thing Curry can be depended upon, it is those 3-pointers.
As the Official Bank of the @NBA, we’re turning bank shots into bank! Score $10 in rewards points (up to $200) for every bank shot made in the SoFi NBA Play-in Tournament when you subscribe to SoFi Plus*—SoFi’s new premium membership.

According to Stock Analysis, SoFi Technologies reportedly holds a net worth of $11.86 billion! In February 2024, it was named the official banking partner of the NBA, NBA G League, NBA 2K League, and USA Basketball. Boston Celtics star Jayson Tatum, who partnered with SoFi to establish the SoFi Generational Wealth Fund, was also brought in to promote the company’s new initiative. In his own words, “During the SoFi NBA Play-In Tournament, SoFi’s ‘They Shoot You Score’ is rewarding members for joining the SoFi Plus community. Watching the game just got even more exciting—with the chance to earn points with every bank shot made.” Could there be anything more to entice fans into acquiring a subscription for themselves?
The faith of several new people will now be on Stephen Curry and co. As if they did not already carry enough pressure to do well, given that the upcoming matchup can finally seal their postseason fate. Therefore, the team has plans to deliver and deliver well.

Stephen Curry and co lay out plans for upcoming Warriors-Grizzlies game: “It’s a physical game.”
The upcoming matchup presents a ‘do-or-die’ situation for the Golden State Warriors. After all, one more loss, and they will have only one more chance remaining to secure a spot in the playoffs. Stephen Curry realizes this and was therefore willing to share his thoughts on the upcoming game. After Sunday’s 124-119 loss to the LA Clippers, Stephen Curry touched upon the upcoming game and said, “Different styles, but it’s a physical game. Protecting the paint. They have Ja who controls momentum, you want to make sure you keep a body on Desmond, he’s a great shooter, great scorer… Jaren Jackson is playing amazing all year.”
The Warriors, as a whole, also made efforts to look determined. Before the showdown, the team’s official X account put out a strong, six-word message ahead of the showdown. The same highlighted them, saying “Energy. Effort. Everything. Tomorrow, we hoop”.
