The Giannis Antetokounmpo trade buzz is so intense that fans even believed he flew to San Francisco and purchased property. However, both those pieces of news were fake. While trade watch is keeping Dub Nation on edge, Draymond Green isn’t letting every rumor slide, especially if it’s about himself.

On Monday, the four-time champion took to Threads to blast a report suggesting he was arranging his departure from the Bay Area. It was alleged that Green was willing to be traded to the Milwaukee Bucks with a special caveat.
“🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣who’s the source?” Green replied to a post detailing the trade report.

NBA insider Brett Siegel of ClutchPoints had claimed, “One rival executive who has dealt with the Warriors before in trade talks spoke with ClutchPoints on Sunday and brought up the interesting scenario where Green himself could be on board with such a maneuver, where he could be traded and return next season.”
Green is at the heart of trade rumors as the deadline looms closer. Rumors suggest he could be shipped out with Jimmy Butler and Jonathan Kuminga in a blockbuster package. Although Mike Dunleavy has been reluctant to trade anyone, insiders claim that no one on the team is safe except Stephen Curry.
Although discussions between the Warriors and Bucks haven’t progressed since last week, Siegel confirmed that he didn’t hear an emphatic “no” when insiders were asked directly whether Green could be a moving piece ahead of the deadline.

“I 100 percent believe there are teams who would essentially help the Warriors get Giannis if it meant they got Green for the next three or four months to pursue a title,” a rival executive told Siegel.

This trade structure, however, would require Green to take a $20+ million pay cut and be on a minimum contract at the tail end of his career. He currently holds leverage due to an upcoming player option in the summer. However, per simple logic, it’s hard to believe that such a complex three-team move would pan out.
Green, one of the few people who’s held Antetokounmpo to single digits, has been candid about how stressful the rumors have been. The Warriors, though, need either his salary or Butler’s to supplement Kuminga’s and get the Greek star before the deadline.
However, the veteran’s dismissive response signals his frustration with the rumor mill and reinforces the belief that he intends to stay with the Warriors.

Draymond Green’s real thoughts on the Giannis Antetokounmpo trade saga with the Bucks
The rumors are reminiscent of what happened to Draymond Green and Curry’s teammate. Gary Payton II was almost traded in 2023 but came back to the Warriors after a failed physical. Those were a wild few days in the Bay Area.
But the Antetokounmpo sweepstakes are crazier. With the New York Knicks also a likely landing spot for the Greek star, the trade scenarios, as seen in this story, are becoming more creative.

“Quite honestly, I think it’s a tough time, the stress levels are high,” Green said.
However, it contrasted with the confidence the veteran showed during the Warriors-Pistons game on Friday.

“I’ve been here for 14 years,” Green said. “I have no reason to sit and worry about leaving. But if I’m traded, that’s part of the business. I ain’t losing no sleep, though. I slept great last night.”
For now, Green stays in the Bay Area. Unless the phone rings, he’s keeping the rumors in check.
