NBA players aren’t usually keen on playing in Boston, and many of them have spoken about the merciless crowd at the TD Garden. But what just happened with Stephen Curry genuinely wasn’t expected. While the Golden State Warriors took a beating from the Boston Celtics, Curry nearly lost his temper at a fan.

After the game, the Baby-Faced Assassin was leaving his seat. While walking back into the tunnel, one fan near the exit gripped Curry’s left arm hard. The person didn’t let go. The four-time NBA champion’s displeasure over the incident was visible. He briefly paused to look at the fan with a deadpan expression before carrying on.

Likewise, security wasn’t just going to allow a confrontation to take place. The fan was “ushered out” of the arena after their antics, according to @KyleCelt33, who originally posted the video. It was the full Celtics experience, where fans have been ruthless against players not wearing the team uniform. In Curry’s case, they despise the Warriors’ star a little more.

Curry is the reason the Celtics had to wait for an NBA championship. Notably, in 2022, he single-handedly led the Golden State Warriors to their fourth NBA championship during his Dubs era. He won his first Finals MVP, spoiling the Celtics’ progress. What made it worse was the way the two-time MVP captured the gold. It happened on the TD Garden floor, which Curry silenced with an expert 34-point performance in Game 6 of that series.

The Boston crowd is always passionate. Best believe that memory still lingers in fans’ minds. That being said, the fan’s behavior with Curry was completely inappropriate. Even heckling NBA players can lead to fan ejections, as it recently did with rapper Freddie Gibbs’ manager, who was reportedly banned. But when it gets physical, the punishment could also get worse. There’s no such update or confirmation from the Celtics that they will take action against the fan so far. They might be too busy celebrating their win over the Warriors.

The Celtics leave the Warriors badly bruised

Stephen Curry didn’t need a fan yanking his hand for him to be upset. The Warriors’ talisman is itching to get back out on the court. He missed his 19th consecutive game and watched the Dubs struggle without him again. The Celtics showed absolutely no remorse, demolishing their rivals 120-99.

Jaylen Brown led the way for the Shamrocks. The Celtics’ two-way cornerstone logged 32 points, six rebounds, five assists, and two steals. Jayson Tatum and Payton Pritchard added 43 points combined. The visitors did a great job of limiting the Celtics’ ball movement. They forced 16 turnovers, but couldn’t capitalize on those opportunities.

Their poor shot-making is also the reason they need Curry back as soon as possible. No one from the Warriors scored even 15 points. They shot 23.3% from beyond the arc and 40% from the field. The Celtics really had every Dubs player in chains, and there was nothing Curry could do about it. They don’t have a player who attracts attention. It creates a cluster rather than spacing the floor out. After the loss, head coach Steve Kerr admitted the Warriors may have lost their chance at having a guaranteed playoff spot.

“We’ve had our eyes on six for a while now, but that’s out of the question now,” Kerr said. “We’re not getting there. If we can string together some wins, try to get to eight, that would be ideal, get two cracks at it. But we’re not getting to seven, we know that. I’ve been talking about this theme, not in so much precise words like I just used.”

The Warriors have 13 games in hand. That’s enough to turn the standings around and land a 7/8 seed. However, that rests on how early Curry can return. The Dubs’ cornerstone has started workouts. He is scheduled for a reevaluation soon, and they are optimistic. Kerr confirmed yesterday that Curry’s recovery was “trending in the right direction,” and he was traveling with the team so he could hopefully participate in team scrimmages.

But it seems the Warriors are mentally prepared for a longer road to the postseason. The only issue? If they finish 9/10, they will face a ‘win or go home’ scenario in what is practically a Game 7. The sooner Curry returns, the less anxious Dub Nation will feel about playing an elimination game.
