Cooper Flagg, who is quickly becoming an NBA star, just completed his legendary rookie season, one that included a Wooden Award and being named the NBA’s Rookie of the Year. However, the last big news about him comes not on the basketball court but in a totally unexpected place.

Flagg was caught on camera in the American Airlines Center reacting to his girlfriend, Arianna Roberson, during a ‌WNBA game featuring the Dallas Wings versus the Indiana Fever on Thursday. Apparently, Roberson had asked him something, and Flagger replied by rolling his eyes.

The actual words uttered could not be determined because there was no recording of the exchange, but the image was enough.

What made this moment special, among other reasons, is that the relationship had become very public since May 2026. It was proven by the vacation posts done by Flagg and Roberson from Turks and Caicos, after speculations of their relationship when she joined his family during the Rookie of the Year press conference in April.

The common past starts from their days at Duke University, where the two probably met for the first time. Flagg played a dominant season with the Blue Devils and won the Wooden Award before playing professionally, while Roberson plays center for the women’s basketball team at Duke, having skipped the 2024-2025 season due to an ACL tear.

The game itself did not disappoint. Paige Bueckers had 13 points, six rebounds, and eight assists, while Caitlin Clark had 10 points, four rebounds, and nine assists; however, despite Kelsey Mitchell scoring a season-high 37 points for the Fever, the Wings won 91-85.

Flagger’s response video stirred up discussions on the internet, with followers giving out different speculations about the reason for his reaction and what it implies about the life of the young celebrity.

Fans React to Cooper Flagg’s Viral Eye Roll Moment

“So you think you can request a trade outta Dallas now?” one fan joked.

The statement is because Dallas has seen many controversial front office activities, one such being the trade of Luka Doncic last year, which has led people to joke about players not wanting to play in Dallas anymore.

“You think you going to qualify for the playoffs this season?” another asked.

This doubt comes from the Mavericks ending up with a record of 26-56 last season, placing them in 12th place in the Western Conference and being knocked out of any postseason play for the second year in a row.

Another comment stated, “Kon Knueppel was a better rookie,” bringing back the Rookie of the Year controversy.

The race was closer than many people realize, with Flagg winning out over Knueppel by 26 points total, 412 to 386, even though Flagg scored 21 points, grabbed 6.7 rebounds, and had 4.5 assists per game.

“What if Luka came back?” queried another fan, an idea that remains unanswered to this day in Dallas.

This led back to the deal that had landed Dončić with the Los Angeles Lakers in February 2025 in exchange for Anthony Davis, Max Christie, and a first-round draft pick in 2029, with many fans speculating that this was an example of something that got under people’s skin because of the controversy surrounding this trade.

“What’s it like having Kyrie Irving as a teammate?” was another reaction.

This refers to the off-season workouts that Flagg has been doing with Irving, and fans believe that the question was more playful than serious since these two players have allegedly built up their chemistry before the coming season.

Given the trade jokes and the roster questions, it becomes obvious that the fans perceive the eye roll by Flagg as a little part of a greater story being played out in Dallas.
