Ahead of the race 2 of the round of 12 in the Cup Series playoffs, heartbreak struck the Reddicks. The 2x Xifinity Series champion’s wife, Alexa, revealed that their few-month-old son, Rookie, is in the cardiovascular ICU at Levine’s. From what Alexa shared, things had been troubling for a while. “After a run around for months with the pediatrician’s office, I knew what was going on was something bigger. Always trust your mom gut. Our sweet Rookie was showing signs of heart failure that were being missed,” she wrote.

Rookie George Reddick was born on 25th of May earlier this year. But the couple wouldn’t make the news public until Reddick was gearing up for the NASCAR Cup Series Cracker Barrel 400 at Nashville Superspeedway 5 days later. “The household has now become a family of four, and we are so blessed,” he had shared on X.

Rookie is Tyler and Alexa’s second son, following their first-born, Beau, who is five years old. The duo had named him after the 29-year-old won a bet upon securing the 2019 Xfinity Series championship. Then, when Tyler won at Talladega, Beau was the first one to join in on the celebrations. Needless to say, races and family have gone hand in hand for Reddick. So as he takes to the speedway this weekend, he proceeds with a heavy heart.

“Please please pray for this sweet guy that God heals his heart,” Alexa wrote from over at Levine’s in Charlotte. “I usually don’t share our personal lives but I’m hoping you take the time to pray for him today.”

The Reddicks are the kind to pen adorable little letters for Tyler ahead of his races, swap groom’s cake for a lego one for the kids, and reward each other’s hard work with surprises. When it all turned gloomy over the family, Instagarm became a sea of support with NASCAR’s notable names sending over their warmth.
