Life on the NASCAR circuit rarely slows down. For drivers, weekends aren’t for rest like they are for us. Instead, they’re for racing. Even when the Cup Series takes a breather, you’ll find these adrenaline junkies hitting dirt tracks, short tracks, and other speedways. Kyle Larson is the perfect example.
Whenever he can, Larson trades his stock car for a sprint car, chasing his first love on dirt ovals nationwide. It’s not uncommon for him to sweep a Cup race on Sunday and sling dirt the next. That’s just how it goes in stock car life. Throttle down, always! But this week, with the Cup Series off for Easter Sunday, Larson’s splitting his time in a way few expected. And trust us, you’ll want to hear about this plan.

Kyle Larson’s off-week: Racing, family, and a WrestleMania surprise
After clinching his second Cup Series win of the season at Bristol, Kyle Larson joined Kevin Harvick for a Victory Lap interview. When asked about his plans for the rare off-week, Larson shared, “We’re racing this weekend. I’m going to go run Knoxville on Friday and Saturday in the sprint car.” This reflects Larson’s deep-rooted passion for dirt racing, a discipline he often returns to whenever his schedule allows.
True to his roots, Larson will compete in sprint car races at Knoxville Raceway on April 18 and 19. Known as the “Sprint Car Capital of the World,” Knoxville holds a special place in Larson’s heart. He has won the prestigious Knoxville Nationals three times, including back-to-back victories in 2023 and 2024. He led all 50 laps in both recent wins, consistently outpacing the best sprint car drivers and cementing his reputation as one of the top dirt racers today.
But it’s not all work and no play for Kyle Larson this weekend. Larson plans to attend WrestleMania 41 in Las Vegas on Sunday, along with his son, Owen Larson. He told Kevin Harvick, “We’re actually going to go to Wrestlemania in Vegas on Sunday. He’s [Kyle’s son, Owen Larson] been asking me for a while to go to one of those events. I’ve never been into wrestling like that, but it should be fun… Wrestlemania is obviously a huge event, so I’m excited about that for sure.”

We all know that family remains central to Larson’s life, especially his son, Owen Larson. He often shares special moments with him. From celebrating victories together to attending events like the Tulsa Shootout, their bond is evident. These shared experiences foster a deep connection between father and son, both on and off the track. That being said, Larson also emphasized the significance of this break, noting, “It’s the only week that we get off.” For NASCAR drivers, such pauses are rare, making them a cherished opportunity to recharge and spend quality time with family, and Larson also loves to sneak in a bit of racing whenever he can.
Thus, for his week off, Larson’s balancing act is the perfect snapshot of a modern racer’s life. Equal parts speed, family, and spectacle. After chasing trophies in Knoxville’s famed dirt ovals, he’ll swap fire suits for fan gear at Allegiant Stadium. WrestleMania 41, set for April 19-20, promises a blockbuster card and, for Larson, a chance to unwind in a different arena altogether.
