Earlier this year, the NASCAR community was abuzz when some startling news dropped. As a matter of fact, Hollywood actor and former child star Frankie Muniz was going to make his ARCA Series full-time debut. So far, he has been performing decently, with two Top 10 finishes in 3 races. It was a slightly shaky start with 11th place during the season opener at the Daytona International Speedway. However, he steadily found his feet with 6th at Phoenix, 9th at Talladega and 8th at Kansas.

The best part is that his results were enough to see him take the championship lead in the ARCA Series. However, the Malcolm in the Middle star isn’t leading by much in the standings. In fact, he only has an 11-point gap to second-placed Jesse Love. Still, we can not deny the fact that the #30 driver has been really impressive, especially considering that he is going up against seasoned ARCA drivers, proving his dooubters wrong.

Frankie Muniz is not the only actor to get involved in racing

Muniz joins a fairly short list of actors who have also dabbled in motorsport. They include Steve McQueen, James Dean, Patrick Dempsey and Michael Fassbender. Of course, while Dempsey and Fassbender have been exploring the world of endurance racing, while Muniz is in the stock car scene. It is worth mentioning that the Grey’s Anatomy star has seniority in motorsport, as he has been racing longer than Fassbender and Muniz.

The latter two have only just entered the racing scene in the past couple of years. Fassbender even managed to compete in the 2022 edition of the 24 Hours of Le Mans. Of course, for Frankie Muniz, the 2023 ARCA Series championship is still long. So his job of defending that championship lead will be very tough.

Additionally, he will also be on the hunt for his first win of the season. The next weekend, he is at the Charlotte Motor Speedway and he will be aiming for the win or a good result at worst.
