On November 17th, 2024, Tony Stewart and Leah Pruett’s lives completely changed! Enter Dominic James Stewart. He was only a day old, but, it was enough to have the new parents exhausted. “Feeding, pumping, washing parts, napping, changing, and all the things on his schedule, that’s something that should be left for superwoman. I’m a very strong woman, I’m not a superwoman,” said Leah Pruett when revealing she won’t be participating in the NHRA event in 2025.

And these are full-time race car drivers and champions we are talking about. But in the end, the joy of parenting makes it all worth it. Before you know it, time flies and kids get older. This is probably the reason why Pruett is soaking in every moment with Dominic despite being exhausted all the time. As she mentioned in her recent Instagram post.

Pruett is quite active on social media, showing her time spent with Dominic. It probably acts as a record for her, to one day go back and see how far they have come with their son. And to be honest, it just feels like yesterday that Dominic was a month old and Pruett had posted, “ He’s now over a month old, and has got all of his responsibilities down. Eat, sleep, toot, and look cute.” But it wasn’t just yesterday, that was December last year, folks. See, time flies. We are already in March, Tony’s kicking off a new season and Dominic is kicking off another milestone in his life!

Leah Pruett finds some calm amid the chaos

Folks, the NHRA season has kicked off and Tony Stewart is back for another Top Fuel run. While this means the 2024 Rookie of the Year is eyeing to better his performance, it also means a hectic schedule for the couple. Well, for Leah mostly. At the season opener, Gatornationals at Gainesville Raceway, Florida, Stewart said, “She’s the one doing all the work… Obviously, Leah has huge responsibilities, not only as a mom and a babysitter for me, but now on top of that, she plays a very crucial role with the race team. She doesn’t just sit around. She’s working in the pit and has a full schedule.” To be honest, that sounds exhausting.

But recently Leah Pruett has decided to kick back, relax, and watch her son turn 4 months old! In her most recent Instagram post, she wrote, “Dominic is officially 4 months old! Just had his checkup yesterday, he’s 16lbs, 26” long, and in the 66th percentile. 👌🏾Sometimes I call him “Applebees” because he’s “eating good in the neighborhood”. lol. This last month has been real rough with the 40 days of Florida travel and endless life challenges thrown at us, but I feel things are looking up! I’m ready for them to look up.”

Is Leah Pruett the real MVP for managing motherhood and a racing career simultaneously?

Have an interesting take?

However, Leah Pruett’s not got much time to rest! The NHRA Top fuel schedule is brutal. On the 21st of March, the series will go to Firebird Motorsports Park and surely she won’t want to miss Tony’s race. And if Florida was challenging with a baby, Arizona’s gonna drain everything out of Pruett. That’s probably why she is planning to catch on as much sleep as she can. Further in the Instagram post, she wrote, “No more sunk motorhomes at 2am, hospitalized help in Daytona, or flooded house with turbofans blowing any shred of peace we had away… I’m ready for some better sleep nights, some racing in the sunshine and a good dose of Wally Winning! 🥇 LFG.”

Tony Stewart‘s got no time to rest either! This is a track where he ran well last season and is in contention to win. Now, for the folks who don’t know how top-fuel races work, here’s a quick explainer. 16 drivers start the event with 11,000 horsepower cars. Now this is a drag race. So the 16 drivers are divided into 1v1 pairs. After the first round concludes the losers are eliminated and the field is narrowed down to 8, then four, then two, out of which we get a winner.

Now, at Firebird last season, Stewart managed to reach the top 4. However, lost to Justin Ashley there. This time, he would be trying to go all the way. However, he has the added challenge of balancing racing and fatherhood.

Tony Stewart on the effect of Dominic

Tony’s probably not got it as tough as Leah, but being a parent, he too has a hectic schedule. And on top of that, he’s now also a full-time race car driver once again. But whenever he gets the time, he comes and spends it with Dominic. “If I have a bad run, and I get a chance to go back to the bus just for five minutes, and he’s awake and I see him smile one time, that bad run doesn’t seem so bad anymore. So I think this kid’s gonna play a really crucial role in this team, just like my wife, just like Matt.” Dominic is like Stewart’s tiny dose of inspiration.

And Pruett has posted these moments on her Instagram. One of them shows Stewart, on his break, playing with his son. A friend on the track captured the photo, and Leah just had to post it. In the caption, she wrote, “A friend caught this moment of a perfectly timed visit to the pits to see Dad during qualifying. Finding a wake window that didn’t include feeding, nitro warm ups, immediate tear downs, or loud cars blaring down the strip is always a win.” This just shows Tony’s involvement in Dominic’s life and how much he wants to be there with him.

Stewart is the epitome of versatility on the track, with IndyCar and NASCAR championships to his name, and he’s got no problem multitasking. After all, Dominic is what makes it all ‘worth it’ for Tony. “I remember when Dale [Earnhardt] Jr. had his first child, and he told me, ‘This is what’s missing in your life, that you don’t realize you’re missing,’ and I realized that when [Dominic] was born. I realized that in the off-season, while we were home, and I’m realizing it even more in depth when we went to the PRO Shootout, and now that we’re in Gainesville and testing this week.”
