In the NCAA, the University of Michigan football team defeated their arch-rivals Ohio State. The Wolverines ended a long-standing hoodoo in a testy thriller to send themselves to the Big Ten championship for the first time in their history. And they had one supporter from the NASCAR grid, Cup Series driver Brad Keselowski.

The 2012 Cup Series champion showed his support for his home team in a series of tweets.

Keselowski was born in Rochester Hills, 54 miles away from Ann Arbor. Ahead of the game, he posted a tweet in which he expressed his support for the team – “Go blue!”

But after the game, the 37-YO posted another tweet in which he reflected on the chances of his team’s first draft chances. The Rochester Hills born also took a subtle dig on rivals, Detroit Lions, after their defeat to Chicago Bears.

Keselowski’s team’s victory over Ohio State

Michigan headed into this game, having never won over Ohio State in over two decades. While Ohio entered the game having won 17 of their last 19 games in the current series.

But with the help of five touchdowns from Hassan Haskins, three sacks from lineman Aidan Hutchinson and a solid defense, Michigan powered through.  Although the score was 14-13 in Michigan’s favor at halftime, the Wolverines defeated their opponents with a thumping scoreline of 42-27 at full time.

A new beginning for Brad Keselowski in 2022

From the next season, Brad Keselowski will race for Roush Fenway Keselowski (RFK) Racing team. Keselowski is also a part-owner in this new venture, hence his name in the newly renamed team.

Keselowski left Team Penske after almost a decade. With his former team, he won his first and Penske’s first championship titles in 2012. Now, he will be replaced by Austin Cindric in the 2022 season.

This year, Keselowski failed to qualify for the last 4 because of a couple of poor results towards the end. There’s no doubt that he still has championship-winning talent and skill in his tank.

So, perhaps in 2022, driving a new car, in a new team, in a new role, Brad Keselowski will try to channel the winning spirit of the college team he supports into his own NASCAR season.
