Hueytown, Alabama, is known for its love of racing. Even their streets are named after members of the Alabama Gang- Allison-Bonnett Drive, Red Farmer Drive, and Davey Allison Boulevard. But here, racing is becoming more of a memory. Hueytown’s biggest NASCAR legacy will close doors as the property is up for sale. This is the same property that Bobby Allison not only lived in but also used to prepare for the races, tune the cars, and even cater to his son’s NASCAR Busch Series team.

The legendary NASCAR racer moved to Alabama in 1969. However, more than five decades after he set foot on that property, his daughter decided to put it up for sale. Following this, an insider from ‘Frontstretch’ took charge to give an insight into the 5-acre historic property.

A look into Bobby Allison’s whopping $697,700 property 

The 5,028-square-foot house boasts some racer-friendly features like multiple workshops and a five-car garage, making it all the more lucrative for a racecar driver to get their hands on it. Also present on the premises is a two-bathroom guest mobile home. Additionally, the property also flaunts amenities that include but aren’t limited to fireplaces, a patio, a deck, and a pool.

As the house is put up for sale, ‘Frontstretch’ reporters Michael Massie and Jared Haas took to YouTube to share a tour of the property, following which they unfurled the history behind it and how it’s been a haven for racers.

The reporters started by briefing about the Alabama Gang founder’s house and said, “The property where NASCAR Hall of Famer Bobby Allison and his son Davey and Clifford not only lived but also prepared many racecars out of there is now for sale. Located in Hueytown, Alabama, the property features roughly 5 acres, two homes, two large two-story garage structures, and a pond.” 

Going back in time, the video also went into detail about the time when the Allison couple moved into the abode and how Allison’s son Davey’s NASCAR team used to operate from the in-house garage. “Bobby Allison and his wife Judy moved there in 1969 and raised their four kids there. The garage has served as the place where Bobby ran his short track cars out, as well as some of his occasional NASCAR Cup Series driver owner efforts. When Davey Allison’s career got going, his NASCAR Busch Series, now NASCAR Xfinity Series team, operated at one of those garages,” the video revealed.

Bobby spent nearly three decades in the historic Alabama house before handing it to his daughter Bonnie. The daughter also appeared later in the video, sharing her memories.

Bonnie Allison takes a trip down memory lane

When Bonnie was just 7 years old, their family shifted from Miami, Florida to the beautiful 5-acre property situated in Hueytown. She spent the majority of her childhood there.

“We moved here in 1969 when I was 7, and then you know as life progresses, moved away a time or two, and was able to come back and live here since 1997. So it’s been amazing to be able to grow up here and then allow my kids to grow up here.”

The Allison family spent the majority of their lives in the historic house and witnessed good progress in motorsport during the same period. However, they will no longer be a part of it. No matter what becomes of the establishment, history will always be a witness to its grandiose.
