With the names of teams and contenders springing left, right, and center in the brewing soap opera which is the future of Kyle Busch, there’s one that not many are paying attention to. Or at least it isn’t being mentioned enough.

That team is, of course, 23XI Racing.

It makes sense, doesn’t it?

It’s Toyota, and it’s not that big of a shift away from Joe Gibbs Racing, right?

Unfortunately, though, as appealing and practical as it sounds, it is none of those things in reality even though Michael Jordan is worth around $2.2 billion.

At least that’s what NASCAR spotter Brett Griffin thinks as he described in a recent episode of the Door Bumper Clear podcast.

“The biggest deterrent for me on that one is, Kyle said, ‘I wanna go somewhere that I know I have a home for a very long time and that I know my Truck Series team is gonna survive and that I know I’m gonna be able to race against my son and transition him into NASCAR,’” Griffin said. “Denny doesn’t have all those things, not right now.”

“I’m not saying Toyota can’t come fill that void, I’m not saying Denny is not having those conversations with Michael Jordan who also is probably a billionaire,” he continued.

“I don’t see Michael Jordan write the check for this guy.”

In an interview ahead of the race at Watkins Glen, Kyle Busch candidly spoke about the situation he is in right now, and the struggles that have come with it.

“The first time I went through this was 15 years ago and it was a learning experience,” Busch said. “It was hard then too, but it was nothing like now. Then it was just me, myself, and I.”

However, with where he’s in his life now, Busch claimed that a “big change” is coming in his, and his family’s lives.

“I don’t feel like it’s fair to me or my family or anything else if we’re going to have to spend less time together moving forward because we are going to have to change our lifestyle, no questions,” he said.

“But again, it will not look the same as what it has for the last 15 years.”
