The birthday boy likely wished for a more favorable result on the diamond. His Royals narrowly lost 4-6 to the Oakland Athletics on June 14. Witt Jr. was 0-for-4 at the plate and in the middle of a vexing mini-slump that had him hitless in three consecutive games. That’s just the nature of baseball’s humbling rhythm. But after the dust had settled from a hard day’s work, a heartfelt tribute from the person who knows him best was waiting to make everything right.
That tribute came from his wife, Maggie Witt, who dropped an “adorable love bomb” on Instagram. Sharing a collection of sweet photos from their journey together, she penned a heartfelt message for her husband. “Happy Birthday to my husband!!!” she wrote. “I am so lucky to have been able to spend 8 out of your last 25 years with you, and I can’t wait to spend the next 100+ birthdays together! You’re my bestest friend and the greatest husband I could ask for. I hope you feel EXTRA special today, I love you! 🫶🏼”.

They famously connected after he transferred into her physics class just to be near her. He refers to her as his “lifetime person” and “best friend,” a bond that the couple made official on December 14, 2024. Their stunning Dallas wedding was a star-studded event with over 300 guests, celebrating a love that has been a constant anchor throughout his rapid rise to stardom.
It is a powerhouse combination on and off the pitch. Maggie, a certified personal trainer and performance coach, accompanies him everywhere. She is always there, sitting in the stands at games and cheering him on from Kansas City to road cities across the country. Even with the mini-slump of late, this season has been another reminder of how special the five-tool megastar really is. In 70 games, Witt Jr. is slashing a respectable. 278 with an. 804 OPS. He has already hit 8 home runs, 37 RBIs, and an American League-leading 21 stolen bases. His 22 doubles also lead all of Major League Baseball, proving he impacts the game in every possible way and carries an impressive 3.3 WAR.
And defensively, the 2024 Gold Glove winner has been nothing short of brilliant at shortstop. His highlight-reel plays have already become a familiar sight at “The K.” In 69 games at one of the most demanding positions, he has committed only 4 errors, resulting in a sparkling. 985 fielding percentage. The advanced stats concur, with the laudable +4 Defensive Runs Saved he has already accumulated this season a ringing endorsement that his glove is as important to Kansas City as his big stick.
Unfortunately, Witt Jr.’s individual brilliance hasn’t fully translated to team success just yet. The Royals are 34-36 and trying to find consistency. The team’s most significant problem is a desperate imbalance on offense. They have had elite pitching (a 3.43 ERA, which ranks fifth in the majors). But their offense has sputtered, scoring the second-fewest runs and hitting the fewest home runs per game. That difference has put immense pressure on the pitching staff. And it’s also the main reason why they went on that downward trend.
