An Honorable Callback to a Victorious Piece of History

As per @BNightengale, in Game 3 at the Diamondbacks’ home ground, former D-Backs legends will partake in the steady ritual. One is Hall of Famer Randy Johnson and co-MVP – 2001 WS; the other is the World Series star Luis Gonzalez. The two key players from the historic chronicles dating back two decades will carry out the ceremonial first pitches.

Gonzalez made the walk-off, game-winning hit over the New York Yankees’ infield in 2001. With that, the 2001, Arizona Diamondbacks bagged the Commissioner’s Trophy. Johnson pitched in the victorious Game 7 of the World Series and got him the title of co-MVP. With these folks having accomplished herculean tasks during their times, one can’t help but sense good omen for the D-Backs. But one can only wait and watch.
