Putting all the speculation to rest, Shohei Ohtani did make the trip to the White House to celebrate the Dodgers’ 2024 World Series title. Fans had been buzzing about who would show up—and whether Ohtani would be there—but this wasn’t just any visit. Celebrating at the White House struck a deep chord with the spirit of American achievement, blending history with the Dodgers’ unforgettable triumph. The entire team came together, marking a memory that will live on in baseball lore. But it was Ohtani, as usual, who stole the spotlight, with a hilarious comment about President Donald Trump.
Ohtani, whose disruptive two-way brilliance has changed baseball forever, was a major highlight of the event. The 50/50 club founder (an achievement that once sounded impossible) continues to defy limits, both on the field and globally.
“He looks like a movie star,” even Trump quipped. And honestly, whether it’s on the mound, at the plate, or the White House, Ohtani commands the spotlight like a true A-lister.
“He said it was an honor to meet me, and I told him it was also an honor for me to meet him,” Ohtani later added in Japanese, before joking that Trump was “taller than I thought.” The Los Angeles Times reported. (For the record: Ohtani stands at 1.93m and Trump at 1.90m.)

Ohtani was also graceful enough to acknowledge Trump’s words and share how he is honored to meet Mr. President. It need not be mutual respect for the person, but the presidential chair deserves respect. Ohtani was humble enough to offer that. Apart from this celebration, one more thing that could make the Dodgers’ fans hopeful for this year is Ohtani’s desire to get back to the White House again next year.
A consecutive title is coming this year?
The Dodgers are eyeing for consecutive World Series
Beyond the celebration, Dodgers fans found another reason to smile—Ohtani’s hunger to come back to the White House next year.
“I think I’d like to go as many times as possible,” he said with a grin.

And why not? The Dodgers are off to a roaring start in 2025, and so is Ohtani. Through 12 games, he’s slashing .311 with a 1.081 OPS—right in line with his full-season dominance last year. He’s already racked up 4 home runs, 5 RBIs, and 2 stolen bases, trailing only Will Smith in batting average and OPS among Dodgers hitters.

Can Ohtani's brilliance lead the Dodgers to another World Series, or will the Padres spoil the party?

With that being said, the Dodgers are currently holding a 10-3 record, which is good but not enough to stand at #3 in the NL West. It might sound ridiculous, but the Padres are leading the division, followed by the Giants. Well, when the name is the Dodgers, a turnaround is just around the corner. Shohei Ohtani’s projected return to the mound might also make things work for the team.
The 30-year-old is still gradually recovering from his TJ surgery. He is now regularly seen throwing in the bullpen, but on-field pitching? Reportedly, Ohtani is still awaiting approval to throw his sweeper. For the unversed, he recently added a couple of splitters back into his most recent bullpen. His velocity, though, remained in the low 90s during that same session. Hence, it will take time to see Ohtani pitch. Till then, it will be on the much-hyped pitching rotation of the Dodgers to lead the charge and step higher than the current 3rd position.
