Shohei Ohtani has a rare card collection now

On September 19, in a game that no one will forget, Ohtani solidified his place in baseball lore. Needing just a few more steals to reach the 50/50 milestone, Ohtani put on an unforgettable show against the Miami Marlins: a perfect 6-for-6 performance, which included three home runs, multiple stolen bases, and an astounding 10 RBIs. It was a game that left fans and collectors alike in awe. That night, Ohtani entered the exclusive 50/50 club, a feat no one had ever achieved before. The cards are a tribute to that electrifying moment.

Talking about unforgettable memorabilia, who can forget the historic home run ball? Los Angeles Dodgers slugger Shohei Ohtani’s 50th home run ball has made history, selling for an eye-popping $4.392 million at auction, including the buyer’s premium. This remarkable sale has shattered the previous record for the most expensive baseball, or any sports ball, for that matter ever sold. The previous record holder was Mark McGwire’s iconic 70th home run ball from the 1998 MLB season, which was purchased by Spawn creator Todd McFarlane for $3 million in early 1999.

Another rare Ohtani memorabilia

The fate of one of the most iconic baseballs in recent memory has been revealed, and it’s now on public display for all to see. The historic 50-50 home run ball was hit by Los Angeles Dodgers superstar Shohei Ohtani during his record-breaking 2023 season. It was sold at auction just three weeks ago for a jaw-dropping $4.4 million—setting a new record for sports memorabilia.

But what happens to a ball that carries such legendary significance? Its journey has taken an unexpected turn. The buyer? None other than UC Capital. A Taiwanese investment firm that made history with its high-profile purchase. UC Capital isn’t just any firm, it’s also a tenant of the iconic Taipei 101. 101 was once the tallest building in the world and still one of the tallest in Asia. Now, the ball will call this monumental structure its temporary home.

Until March 2, 2025, the ball will be on display in a special exhibition inside Taipei 101. It will give fans and collectors a rare chance to see it in person. The ball is being kept under strict guard and encased behind glass, ensuring that it remains a spectacle for the public while also maintaining its security and significance.
