The Brewers honored their legendary announcer Bob Uecker on Saturday with a star-studded celebration. Hosted by his former NBC broadcast partner Bob Costas, the event featured Hall of Famers George Brett, Ted Simmons, and Robin Yount, along with current Brewers star Christian Yelich. And as expected, fans were in great spirits, but the festive mood didn’t last long. Why? Because NBA legend turned EDM sensation Shaquille O’Neal dropped some news that wasn’t so upbeat.

Reportedly, the Brewers announced Monday that next month’s postgame concert, where Big Shaq, aka DJ Diesel, was set to perform, has been canceled. The event was supposed to take place on September 18. after the Brewers-Angels game at American Family Field. The event is being cancelled “due to unforeseen circumstances.” Luckily, the fans who bought field passes for the concert will get their money back. “It’s not the news anyone wanted to hear. DJ Diesel has canceled his 9/18 postgame concert at American Family Field.” Brewers insider Curt Hogg revealed.

Shaq’s set was supposed to be the second and final postgame concert of the season, following Nelly’s performance on June 27 after the Rockies game. In the years since his retirement, Shaq has dipped his hands in multiple businesses and hobbies. And that’s how DJ Diesel came it existence. DJing is a passion that started back in 2014 when he stumbled into an electronic music festival and fell in love with the scene.

Now, on the baseball side, the Brewers have been putting together a strong season (82-50). But when it comes to music at American Family Field, things have been pretty quiet. Yes, you heard that right. Outside of Nelly’s postgame show and the now-canceled DJ Diesel set, there’s only one concert on the books for 2025 so far, which is a big drop-off after back-to-back years packed with major shows.

And to make matters worse, the highly anticipated Billy Joel and Sting concert that was supposed to happen in April got postponed and eventually canceled altogether due to Joel’s health issues. So, while the Brewers are winning on the diamond, their postgame concert season hasn’t been much of a hit.

The Brewers are putting on a good show on the field

Well, with the Brewers sitting atop our Power Rankings for the fourth straight week, this season has the makings of something special. If they continue on the same trajectory, they could very well finish with the best record in franchise history.

That being said, it hasn’t all been smooth. After ripping off a 14-game win streak, the Brewers have now dropped six of their last nine. The bullpen has sprung leaks, giving up seven runs in the middle innings on Saturday, then coughing up a ninth-inning lead on Sunday. And just like that, the Cubs have crept within five games.

What’s your perspective on:

Shaq's canceled concert: A minor hiccup or a major letdown for Brewers fans?

Have an interesting take?

At the plate, though, the Brewers keep rolling. Christian Yelich, William Contreras, and Brice Turang have been the engine of the lineup, stringing together timely hits and carrying the offense when it matters. On the mound, Freddy Peralta and José Quintana have done their part, steadying things when games get tight.

Thus, it’s been a season built on balance. Enough timely hitting, enough pitching, and plenty of resilience. The only thing that hasn’t gone their way? Shaquille O’Neal’s postgame concert. A small hiccup in what’s otherwise been a season worth remembering.
