Who says the Red Sox are not interested in free agency? No one said it, but it was a general feeling. Now the baseball world has learned that the team is not only into free agency but also aims to be aggressive. The team has big goals, they want to upgrade their rotation and for that, they need to get good players. This could mean that they would aggressively pursue pitcher Blake Snell.

Free agency is their best shot, and they know it. Apparently, the Red Sox have also shown this enthusiasm to none other than the top agent, Scott Boras. And Boras feels the same. At the general manager meetings, he made it clear that the squad will be very active this free agency.

Red Sox may go hard for Blake Snell

The Boston Red Sox are sending a clear message this offseason: they’re all in on improving their roster and getting back into playoff contention. According to a high-profile agent Scott Boras, the Red Sox ownership has made it known that they’re fully committed to adding high-level talent this winter. “They’re definitely planning on being very active in the free agent market,” the agent said, emphasizing that ownership is all-in on making a splash. This aligns with recent statements from Red Sox brass.  This opens a possibility and gives some accreditation to the speculations that surround Blake Snell and the Red Sox. The team may finally go after Snell after all.

Chief baseball officer Craig Breslow and CEO Sam Kennedy both declared their intention to be aggressive in the market, citing a “burning urgency to get back to the postseason.” It’s clear the crew wants to push for a deeper run in October, and they’re prepared to make the moves necessary to make that happen. Breslow expressed that the team is ready to make significant improvements. When asked by The Boston Globe about pursuing a good pitcher, Breslow didn’t hold back: “I think we have to,” he said. “We have lofty goals. We know we need to raise the ceiling of the rotation. I think there are a lot of ways to do that, but we’re going to be really, really open-minded.”

Other agents in Red Sox’s eyes

Super-agent Scott Boras is at the center of it all. Boras represents several of the biggest names available, and the Red Sox have already been linked to some of his top clients. This includes one of the most coveted players in baseball: Juan Soto. The 25-year-old superstar outfielder has been a rumored target for Boston. But it doesn’t stop there.

Boras also represents first baseman Pete Alonso, the slugger from the New York Mets, and third baseman Alex Bregman, from Houston Astros. Both players have reportedly drawn interest from the Red Sox early in free agency. Beyond position players, Boras’ roster comprises starting pitchers that the team could use. Corbin Burnes, Blake Snell, Sean Manaea, and Yusei Kikuchi are all free agents and all Boras clients. Boston is rumored to be eyeing each one of them.

Of course, the Red Sox aren’t limiting their focus to Boras clients.  According to The New York Post, Boston is also in the mix for All-Star pitcher Max Fried, another very good option on the free-agent market. Boston’s offseason activity isn’t just confined to free agency, though. The Red Sox are also reportedly eyeing potential trade targets, and one name that’s been frequently mentioned is Garrett Crochet of the Chicago White Sox.
