Injuries and other health issues are common factors when being a professional athlete. But it’s very rare that one sees such severe health scares as what happened to Buffalo Bills star Damar Hamlin. During a recent game against the Cincinnati Bengals, Hamlin suffered a cardiac arrest and collapsed on the field.

Thanks to the quick work of the medical professionals at hand and his doctors, Hamlin is on the road to recovery. The Bills safety reportedly asked if his team had won the game soon after waking up. And one MLB legend had the perfect reply to the Bills star’s question.

Bo Jackson shared a beautiful message for Damar Hamlin

Shortly after waking up at the University of Cincinnati Medical Center, Damar Hamlin wanted to know just one thing: He wanted to know whether his team had won the game. MLB and NFL legend Bo Jackson had the perfect response to Hamlin’s question. In a Tweet that he shared, Bo Jackson said that everyone won when Hamlin opened his eyes and started recovering. 

Jackson said, “Dear @HamlinIsland, The question you asked, “Did we win?” The answer to that is yes, we did win. The very second you opened your eyes, the nation celebrated and cheered. So to answer your question, hell yeah we won young man!!” The message was a wholesome thought from the retired MLB legend.

Fans have reacted to Jackson’s message on Twitter and agreed with the MLB legend. Some lauded Jackson for his message while others celebrated Hamlin’s recovery. 

The Tweet was a way for Jackson to address that Hamlin’s health is more important than winning a game. One retired MLB legend is not fully satisfied with the updates and wants to see Hamlin healthy with his own eyes. Many are waiting for Hamlin to make a full recovery, but that may take a bit more time. The good news is that the Bills star has taken another step forward in his recovery.

According to ESPN “Buffalo Bills safety Damar Hamlin had his breathing tube removed and has begun talking with his care team, family and teammates.” This is a huge step forward for the NFL star, but there is still a way to go before he fully recovers.
