Derek Jeter called two people to announce his retirement

Jeter has achieved the title of being called a legend because of everything he has done in his career. He has helped the team win multiple world series titles and is one of the players to get his jersey retired.

When the time came for him to retire himself, he tried to do it the way he promised American sportscaster, Suzyn Waldman. Once in an interview with Suzyn, he told her that whenever he gets retired, she will be the first to know.

He tried to fulfill his promise by calling her, but she didn’t pick up. In his documentary, ‘The Captain,’ Jeter talked about it and said,?“I called her, left her a message, she didn’t pick up.”?

To miss the legend himself calling to announce his retirement is one thing. But just playing with the dogs during the call came and missing out on something this big is another thing. And it definitely is hilarious.

In the documentary itself, Suzyn said,?“I was out with the dogs. I was just outside playing with my German Shepherds.”?

Jeter’s second failed attempt was calling Hal and telling him about it. But again, he did not pick up, because he did not recognize his number. He did not get back to him until the next day.

Then, Jeter finally announced his retirement on his Facebook page in his own words.

Jeter’s life after retirement

Jeter pre-planned everything that he was going to do after his retirement, and he did all of it. He launched his publishing house, Jeter Publishing, in 2013. Also, became a partner and Brand Development Officer of a food company, Luvo. He co-founded the platform, “The player’s tribune” to help players.

Not only this, but Jeter also became the CEO of Miami Marlins, and later stepped down from it. In addition to all of this, he got married. And he is now a proud father of three beautiful girls.?
