A major trade just went down in the Dominican Winter League. Águilas Cibaeñas announced acquiring Jasson Domínguez, Wilkin Ramos, and a ninth-round 2026 rookie draft pick. To complete the deal, Águilas loaned 28-year-old, SF Giants’ outfielder Jerar Encarnacion to Leones del Escogido.

What makes this news even bigger is the uncertainty around Jasson Dominguez in the MLB.

The rumor in New York is that Dominguez might not be with the Yankees for 2026 and might be playing in the minors. Despite hitting .333 with 3 home runs and 9 RBIs in spring games, Dominguez has not been confirmed for the Yankees roster. This comes as a result of the Yankees adding veteran bat Randal Grichuk.
