Oakland Athletics fans are taking things up a notch. Unable to sit still and watch their favorite team’s ruination, fans have been protesting the Las Vegas move. In a bid to make someone listen to their pleas, fans have taken their protests to other teams’ ballparks. The latest MLB franchise to experience this was the Seattle Mariners, who are playing a series against the Minnesota Twins.

Even Hollywood entertainers and other MLB players, like Bryce Harper, have joined Oakland’s cause because it means no more major professional teams in the city, but to no avail. A’s owner, John Fisher, is determined to move the team to Vegas and a new stadium worth around $1.5 billion. While some were hoping for a quiet protest in Seattle, ballpark security was having none of it.

Seattle Mariners Threaten Ejection to Protesting A’s Fan

A Twitter user recently recounted an incident that took place at T-Mobile Park. Seattle is hosting quite the audience with the Mariners game and Taylor Swift’s ongoing Eras Tour. Perhaps that figured into the stadium security’s decision, but it still failed to please fans.

As Smarty J Pants on Twitter posted, “Mariners Ban SELL shirts I sent my M?s fan cousin a SELL shirt which he wore to game today at T-Mobile park?told by usher to REMOVE the SELL shirt or he?d be ejected. It?s official?we hit a nerve either on the #Mariners or #MLB, or both. WTF. #SELL #SellTheTeam @Oakland68s”

The person in the picture can be seen wearing Oakland’s green with the simple word ‘SELL’ on it. Some A’s fans even appealed to fans of the San Francisco Giants, who are playing the Oakland team, to take up their cause with the same t-shirts. Support from the baseball community is sure to make some sort of impact, but it’s slow progress. Nevertheless, many were angry at the above story and how Seattle handled the situation.

Baseball Fans Fume at T-Mobile Park’s Incident

Baseball stadiums have seen much worse than a ‘SELL’ t-shirt or rude signs, but this silent protest clearly turned some wrong gears. Fans erupted in protest over illegal threats and infringing on the right to speak.

Some fans declared their intentions to wear these t-shirts at other games.

Some declared that Mariners’ fans shouldn’t stand for this, while some speculated that the team was probably worried about their own future.

The Seattle team is already on thin ice with its fans after deciding to sell the Toronto Blue Jays merch in their stores. This incident will not go over well either.
