On Wednesday, Yankee Stadium witnessed yet another home run. No, not from Aaron Judge’s bat, but it was from Trent Grisham. Is he hitting? Yes, big time. The Bronx is ready to narrate a new story. And amid that, another story unfolds in the clubhouse – Grisham throwing shade at Juan Soto. Really!!!

Watch What’s Trending Now!

Both Grisham and Juan Soto were traded from the San Diego Padres to the Yankees. Grisham was seen as a secondary addition while Soto was the focus of the transaction. But we all know what happened after his tenure: Soto entered free agency and went with the Mets in a massive deal. Grisham, meanwhile, had become a significant factor in the Yankees’ 2025 offense.

He has a .289 batting average, .379 on-base percentage, .631 slugging percentage, and nine home runs hit through 29 games and 95 plate appearances, equaling his total from last season. Well, while both are doing just fine for their respective teams, why the sudden dig at Soto? And most importantly, how did it all start?

Let’s unroll the matter. It all started when Grisham and the Yankees celebrated their win against the Padres by 4-3.  Among the celebrations, a Trent Grisham comment started to spread on social media: “I don’t need walk-up songs or bat flips. I just play winning baseball.” Fans and media outlets fast-picked on this remark, which implied a difference between Grisham’s method and the more flamboyant attitude linked with Juan Soto.

But on a closer look, this statement came from a parody Instagram account: FAX Sports MLB (@mlbonfax).  Still, many believe this rumor. Surprise, surprise, that’s what happens when you don’t double-check.

Trent Grisham has not publicly criticized Juan Soto. He has always shown professionalism and concentration in his performance, and his recent success with the Yankees speaks volumes.

In the Wednesday game against the Padres, Dylan Cease, the Padres’ starter, performed well by keeping the Yankees hitless for more than six innings. Then Cody Bellinger’s solo home run in the eighth inning snapped the no-hitter, turning the game. Coming off the bench, Trent Grisham hit a spectacular two-run homer in the eighth to knot the game at 3-3.

The Yankees took advantage of this change; J.C. Escarra hit a walk-off sacrifice fly in the tenth inning to give the squad a 4-3 win. Grisham’s timely play helped to bring about this comeback victory. It was his 10th home run of the season and confirmed his importance to the Yankees’ offense. And the Bronx’s offensive power? It is outshining.

Yankees’ offensive resurgence

The New York Yankees’ offense in the 2025 season has been remarkable, exceeding expectations even without major stars such as Juan Soto and Giancarlo Stanton. Leading Major League Baseball in several offensive statistics, the Yankees have a team batting average of .262, an on-base percentage of .346, a slugging percentage of .470, an OPS of .816, and have hit a league-high 60 home runs as of May 7.

Aaron Judge, who keeps confirming his position as one of the top batters in the game, is essential to this offensive explosion. With a .412 batting average, 12 home runs, 34 RBIs, and an OPS of 1.275, Judge tops the American League. His steady play has been a foundation for the Yankees, offering strength and leadership. And Trent Grisham is also doing quite well.

Paul Goldschmidt and Ben Rice’s notable contribution balances Judge’s work. Goldschmidt is hitting with a .351 batting average and offering consistency in the order. Over 110 at-bats, Ben Rice, filling in as the designated hitter in Stanton’s absence, has performed with a .264 batting average, eight home runs, and 15 RBIs. These performances have been crucial in keeping the club’s offensive momentum.

The Yankees expect Giancarlo Stanton, recovering from elbow tendonitis, to return. Stanton has started participating in live batting practice, indicating he might return to the lineup by the end of May. His return to the squad is anticipated to strengthen the Yankees’ strong attack, offering more depth and power as the club works toward success in the 2025 season.

Will this time, October glory shine for the New York Yankees then?
