The downfall of the mighty Dodgers was so unexpected that the baseball community can’t stop talking about it. And now, it seems like LA is scrambling through options to break the curse. Firstly, it was their consecutive losses, followed by their humiliating 16-0 loss against the Chicago Cubs, that have raised a lot of questions regarding the roster. So, to bring back smiles on the fans’ faces, the Dodgers are reportedly in some serious trade talks with the Chicago White Sox.
Any guesses?
Well, as per reports, the only place to upgrade the Dodgers’ lineup is either the centre field or the second base. That’s where Luis Robert Jr. of the White Sox becomes the answer. Expectedly, he could be a perfect fit for their center field. MLB insider Bob Nightengale took to his X handle, posting, “The Chicago White Sox and Los Angeles Dodgers have tabled trade discussions that would send center fielder Luis Robert Jr. to the Dodgers.”

However, they will have to trade Triple-A outfielder James Outman and another front-line prospect. A good decision if the Dodgers get him?

Well, fans are surely expecting the deal to bring an end to their losing streak. But Luis Robert Jr.’s stats are a bit concerning. He had a poor record in 2024 with .217/.275/.365 with 5 home runs and 39 RBIs. Still, there’s a silver lining because he was great from 2021 to 2023. In that stretch, he posted .287/.331/.551 along with 63 home runs, 179 RBIs, and 37 stolen bases.
While the fans will have to wait to see what happens, there’s good news coming from their own bullpen. Their superstar, Shohei Ohtani, is finally making his return to the mound.

Dodgers superstar’s return to the mound can finally end their worries
Amid the turbulent phases that the Dodgers are going through, a light is beaming up at the end of the tunnel. Reportedly, they would be able to experience Shotime’s two-way phenomena. LA waited for a long time, and finally, Ohtani is slated to start pitching again. That may put an end to a lot of worries for the Dodgers. Although Dave Roberts hasn’t revealed anything about the need for another pitcher, Ohtani’s presence can make them a formidable force to reckon with.

Despite not pitching a single time, Ohtani won the MVP award in 2024. We have seen it between 2021 and 2023, when he pitched as a starter in 74 games, making 542 strikeouts at a 2.84 ERA. While the Dodgers’ rotation still looks quite strong with the likes of Roki Sasaki, Blake Snell, Tyler Glasnow, and Yoshinobu Yamamoto, Ohtani’s return makes them even stronger.
However, the Dodgers are in no hurry to bring him back to pitching. They believe that patience is the key to success, and they would like him to be fully fit. Meanwhile, Dustin May can continue as a starter, as he has performed quite well till now.
But the stoppage to their losing streak? Guess we will have to wait
