It seems like the Los Angeles Dodgers‘ outfielder is in the spotlight at the moment! If you look on the internet, you may see Enrique Hernandez donning a cap. He does have a good knowledge about fashion, but not for a good reason this time. Yes, that’s what’s sparking some debates around it. It’s just a simple cap, so what’s all the fuss about?

The buzz around Hernandez’s cap began with what was written on it. If you look closely, the brown patch stitched on the cap reads “bu****** whisperer.”  As expected, the picture went viral. Now, here’s the spice: a rumor has been swirling on the internet, suggesting that one of Hernandez’s teammates brought the picture as a concern to manager Dave Roberts. But can we trust this rumor? Let’s first see who claims it.

A parody account of Talkin’ Baseball shared on their X handle, “an anonymous Dodgers player reportedly filed a complaint with manager Dave Roberts,” after his children asked him the meaning of “bu******,” as per The Athletic‘s writer Fabian Ardaya. The post included a picture of Hernandez donning the cap featuring an inappropriate image of a skeleton while boarding the plane for the three-game series against the Philadelphia Phillies.

However, it turns out there have been no such incidents within the Dodgers’ clubhouse, making the rumor unfounded. But there have been some situations involving similar names and circumstances.

Well, putting it simply, the Dodgers may have found it inappropriate. That’s why they photoshopped the logo, replacing it with a brown patch when posting it on social media. Larry Brown Sports reported, the original logo was photoshopped to remove the phrase “b****** whisperer” and the unsettling image of a skeleton.

Even though it was all in good humor, Hernández is followed on social media by millions of people, including children. Such an image may raise concerns about how it wouldn’t set a good and positive example for anyone who happens to watch him play. While the discussion may continue, Hernández doesn’t seem happy about his picture being photoshopped.

Enrique Hernandez not happy with Dodgers

Shortly after the Dodgers shared on X, “Off to Philly!” with Hernandez’s picture, his gaze instantly went to the brown patch, which was edited. And his reaction didn’t seem reasonable to many. And why? Well, he was upset, quite a lot. Instead of discussing the matter privately, he commented on their Instagram post, “I feel disrespected that my hat got photoshopped.”

Once the tweet went viral, fans and users across social media platforms were eager to find out what was written on the hat. And once they discovered it, many accepted it as true. However, they didn’t find Hernandez’s reaction quite reasonable. One fan bluntly commented, “If this is true, this is the softest bullshit I’ve ever heard of. What a little crybaby this anonymous dude is. Wtf has this country come to?

Interestingly, some fans also believed the false news shared by Talkin’ Basaball and speculated that the anonymous player may be the Dodgers’ first baseman, Freddie Freeman. Some might argue the comment was sarcastic or playful, but that doesn’t erase the fact that Hernández chose to wear the hat in the first place. Athletes have a unique platform, and with that comes a responsibility to consider the messages they send—intentionally or not.
