Milwaukee is not having a good time today. Just a few hours ago, it was reported that Jackson Chourio has been put on the IL and will be missing 2-4 weeks. But there is even more serious news that might have some implications for American Family Field, where the Brewers are playing their Opening Day.
Reports from WISN have come in saying, “MILWAUKEE: Body found during a fire in a parking lot outside of American Family Field/ Brewers stadium.”

A death investigation began Tuesday night near the American Family Field after a fire broke out. It was reported that the police were called at around 10:15 PM to the 1 Brewers Way parking lot. During the response to the fire that broke out in the parking lot, the firefighters discovered an unidentified body, linked directly to the fire.
The location of the body was found just outside the stadium near Selig Drive and the Yount Lot.

As the scene developed and after early findings, the police said that the death was not suspicious and suggested a probable accident. The County Medical Examiner’s Office was called to the scene by 10:40 PM to assist the police.
Officials confirmed the identity remains unknown, with a formal determination of cause yet to be known.
The Milwaukee Brewers said the parking lot involved has not been used this year. It was later added that the situation is not being treated as a criminal case, deferring further details directly to the police. Just a few hours before, the Brewers had played their Spring Game against the Reds. With the stdium in such close proximity, there are major concerns for the police to handle.
Brewers face a major problem with their roster
The news outside the stadium might not hurt the Brewers much, but the injury to Jackson Chourio is going to. Milwaukee placed Jackson Chourio on the IL after a confirmed left-hand fracture. The injury occurred on March 4th in the WBC exhibition game against the Nationals. During the spring game against the Reds, Chourio felt a sharp pain on a check swing.
An MRI after the game revealed a small third metacarpal fracture, with doctors projecting a two-to-four-week recovery.
The timing hurts because the news came just a few hours before the Opening Day game against the White Sox. The Brewers will miss him and his bat in the lineup. Chourio in 2025 hit .270 average with 21 homers. Replacing a balance in a limited time is going to be difficult for the Brewers.
For now, the Brewers have added Blake Perkins, who posted a .226 average and three homers during the 2025 season. But manager Pat Murphy said that Christian Yelich will be back in the outfield.
But Yelich has played only 67 games in the outfield over the past 2 season, and that is the only question mark with this replacement.
