This is Lindor’s second straight offseason dealing with the same elbow, as he had bone spurs removed after the 2023 season. He became known for playing through pain without complaining, even this season when he had a broken pinky toe.
The Mets rely on Francisco Lindor a lot because of how well he played in 2025.

The National League All-Star starter had an OPS of .811, which helped a lineup that really needed his consistency. Even though everything around him fell apart, he kept making things.
The collapse ruined World Series dreams that seemed certain to come true.
The New York Mets had the best record in baseball on June 12, 45-24, and they were five and a half games ahead of the second-place team in their division. They ended up with a record of 83-79 after a terrible 38-55 slide, which was worse than only the four worst teams in the league. Their pitching staff’s ERA went from 2.80 to 4.95, which put them in 27th place in baseball.

The Marlins put an end to their season with a 4-0 shutout on September 28. This officially ended their hopes of making the playoffs and marked one of baseball’s most painful collapses.
And now, the Lindor news seems to be the straw that broke the camel’s back.
Francisco Lindor surgery news sparks Mets fan meltdown
Lindor’s second elbow surgery during the offseason made Metsies worried about how long he could stay healthy at a position that requires great defensive skills. “Wow. Career is over just like that,” remarked one fan in a panic, showing how worried they were about a player who had already had bone spurs removed from the same elbow after the 2023 season.
Another observed, “Hmm, minor cleanup. Wonder if this impacted some of his defense this past season.” Fans started wondering if Lindor’s elbow problems hurt his throwing accuracy during the year, even though he had an .811 OPS and was named an All-Star.

“Cool, you’re next, Manaea,” read another response that said the injury worries could spread to other pitchers on a staff that went from having the best ERA in baseball to 27th.
One user commented, “Meet the Mets! We heard about this in July on why he’s been slumping,” suggesting that the organization hid injury information that would have explained why they did so poorly in the second half, when they lost 38–55. The script felt more like what the New York Yankees did with Anthony Volpe!
“He’s washed,” commented another angry fan. They ignored a shortstop who had just hit 31 home runs and stolen 31 bases.
The team’s collapse made fans change their minds. Even small medical procedures felt like life-or-death situations for a team that lost the best record in baseball and now doesn’t know what to expect in spring training.
