The Yankees, who narrowly beat their rivals the Boston Red Sox in the AL Wild Card series, fell short against the Toronto Blue Jays in the American League Division Series. With the Yankees’ early exit from October baseball, the Bronx bombers are catching other New York teams in action. Cam Schlittler, along with Devin Williams and Aaron Judge, caught some NBA action on Wednesday, sitting courtside at Madison Square Garden for the New York Knicks’ season opener against the Cleveland Cavaliers.

When heading back, Cam Schlittler, a Yankees rookie pitcher hailing from Walpole, Massachusetts was heard and captured shouting “F—k Boston” while signing autographs for New York fans.

This is the second time Cam Schlittler gave a bold nod to the Yankees-Red Sox rivalry despite his New England origins.

Two weeks ago, during the Yankees–Red Sox Wild Card Game 3, Cam Schlittler was caught mouthing “F—k Boston” as he walked off the mound after the seventh inning. Asked later if he’d converted his family into Yankees fans, the Massachusetts native laughed, saying, “Yeah, I’d say so… They’re fully Yankee guys now.” Rarely does a Boston-born player embrace the pinstripes so fiercely, but Schlittler has done it with fire. His defiance has reignited the raw edge of the classic Yankees–Red Sox rivalry, turning his Boston roots into pure Bronx pride.

The Yankees star even claimed that Red Sox fans had “crossed a line” that day by harassing his mother online. Twenty minutes before he threw the first pitch that day, he texted his family, “I’ll go kick their a**.”  And he did that, pitching eight scoreless innings, striking out 12 batters with zero walks. You can argue that those harsh jabs fueled him to turn in the best performance of his career.

New York Giants rookie Cam Skattebo, Hollywood actor Ben Stiller, and his wife, Christine Taylor, were also in attendance. In fact, musicians Fat Joe and Ed Sheeran were also present court-side, along with Jimmy Fallon and Tracy Morgan.

Cam Schlittler to be part of Yankees’ preferred group of starters in 2026 campaign

When it comes to the Yankees or New York, Cam Schlittler’s loyalty runs deep. Fueled by online taunts from Boston fans, Schlittler struck out 12 over eight shutout innings to bring Boston’s season to an end earlier this month. 

That’s a moment Cam Schlittler will probably never forget. However, his journey is just getting started. The 6-foot-6 pitcher quickly proved he belonged in the big leagues. The rookie earned a call-up in July and finished the season with a 4-3 record and a 2.96 ERA across 14 starts.

“The big thing is always being confident. That’s been important to me the last two years. Just being able to see the results and getting confidence from guys in this room as well—it makes it easier to go out there and just do my job.” He said. 

Drafted in the seventh round out of Northeastern in 2022, the 24-year-old began the 2025 season with Double-A Somerset. He made 10 appearances (nine starts) there before he was moved to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre for five more starts. 

That earned him praise from Yankees manager Aaron Boone, who called him “a future staple of our rotation.”

“[Schlittler] has come up and delivered right away. He’s got it. I don’t know exactly what it is; it’s hard to define it. But he’s got it,” his teammate Gerrit Cole said as the Yankees celebrated their Wild Card win over the Boston Red Sox.
