Baseball fans never forget or forgive, especially when it comes to loyalty. Remember the uproar when Prince Harry and Meghan Markle showed up at Dodger Stadium during the World Series? The couple was spotted wearing Dodgers hats and cheering for the team, which didn’t sit well with Blue Jays fans. Why?
Meghan lived in Toronto while filming the show that made her famous, and Harry trained with the Canadian forces during his military service.
So seeing them back the Dodgers instead of the Jays rubbed a lot of Canadians the wrong way. And things only got worse after a new announcement. Reportedly, on November 3, Prince Harry’s office revealed that he’ll be heading to Toronto for several events leading up to Remembrance Day. And guess what, Blue Jays fans aren’t exactly rolling out the welcome mat for the Duke of Sussex after his public show of support for their rival team.

“Why is he involved in any events for the Canadian Armed Forces? He does not represent King Charles. We are not interested in another security bill. Canadians turn on Prince Harry amid Toronto visit after Blue Jays snub,” Canadian insider LD Mac shared some snapshots of the average Canadian’s reaction towards Harry’s visit to the country.
Well, Prince Harry’s upcoming trip to Canada couldn’t have come at a worse time, especially since he’s already facing plenty of backlash over that World Series appearance.

Now, coming to the World Series fiasco, Harry may be a newer Dodgers fan. But Meghan’s hometown pride has rubbed off on him. Notably, the couple even sported matching blue-and-white Dodgers caps. They made a rare public appearance on October 28 to catch Game 4 in person, then tuned in from home for Game 7 just a few days later.

The real issue isn’t that Harry backed the Dodgers. But it’s that he did so despite his long-standing ties to Canada. Between Meghan’s years living in Toronto and Harry’s own military training in the country, Blue Jays fans felt especially slighted. And if there’s one thing baseball fans take seriously, it’s loyalty, which is exactly why this snub hit such a nerve.

The Blue Jays fans are having a meltdown
Well, that’s not an exaggeration to say that the Blue Jays fans are having a meltdown. “So Harry knew about this trip a year ago and chose to support the LA Dodgers last week? William aside, Harry is stupid? William is going to be King. He doesn’t need to work to outshine anyone,” one fan said. “Good luck in Toronto, Harry, after wearing a Dodgers cap!” Another user added.
So, more than just Harry didn’t support the Blue Jays at the World Series; fans highlighted how it was a pure misfire by the Duke. Even fans are wondering if he knew that a Canada visit was just here after the World Series. And now, for this PR disaster, more trolls and roasting are surely coming on the way from the Blue Jays fans to Harry.
“No diplomatic skills, no common sense, especially since he knew he was going to Canada the NEXT week. At the very least, he could have changed hats during the course of the game or not worn one at all. What a dumb***,” a third said. Yes, just within a week of his World Series appearances, Harry is coming to Canada that too supporting a win against the Blue Jays. This says a lot about what a poor PR does!!! A better awareness would have helped Harry to put down his Dodgers hat just when he was scheduled to visit Canada in a week.
However, we could also treat Harry from a baseball fan perspective. He was there to enjoy the night of baseball, no matter what cap he was wearing.
“Will he be wearing his LA Dodgers hat?” Another added. A well-proportioned sarcastic dig referring to how Harry and Markle were seen donning a Dodgers cap during the game. And guess what, Harry is not the only celebrity to get trolled during the World Series. If you remember, Sydney Sweeney also got trolled by the Dodgers fans over donning White and blue jersey. So, be very sure that when it comes to loyalty, baseball fans, no matter whether they are Dodgers or Blue Jays fans, will leave anyone in the dust.
As Harry’s got deep Canadian roots, Blue Jays fans aren’t letting that slide after he showed up rooting for the Dodgers. For the Jays fans, Harry to them is what Brutus was to Ceaser! ‘Et tu, Harry?’
“He’s a Dodger fan. Stay away! I don’t think he realizes how deep our feelings are for the Blue Jays! I did like him. My feelings have changed.” The same emotion as discussed. Notably, for the Canadian fans, the Blue Jays are the only gateway to MLB. Hence, anyone connected to or staying in Canada and still not supporting the Jays could make any of their fans trigger.
And this World Series was long promoted as a game between Canada and US, Harry taking a visible stance against Canada surely doesn’t go with the Canadian fans.
