Looks like things are heating up around Raisel Iglesias. Reportedly, with multiple teams showing interest, the Braves might have a real fight on their hands to keep their late-inning anchor, especially now that one of the league’s biggest spenders is in the mix. Just yesterday, reports had the Dodgers eyeing Iglesias as they explored a possible reunion with Shohei Ohtani’s old Angels teammate.

And now, yet another contender has jumped into the chase, giving L.A. some stiff competition.

Well, Iglesias has quietly been excellent in Atlanta… A 2.35 ERA, 97 saves, and a 0.94 WHIP across 222 appearances may not look flashy, but it’s more than enough to get top clubs circling. And if the latest buzz proves true, this offseason could spark a World Series–level showdown for his services.

“According to sources, the Toronto Blue Jays have emerged as a strong suitor for Cuban reliever Raisel Iglesias. Toronto is actively pursuing the veteran right-hander as they look to reinforce the back end of their bullpen,” BeisbolFR.com’s Francys Romero said.

If you remember, it was earlier reported that Iglesias might be moved at the deadline, but that obviously didn’t materialize. Either the Braves didn’t get the kind of offers they wanted, or teams weren’t willing to meet their price. But this time, chances are high.

Now, for the Blue Jays, even with a successful season overall, the bullpen was still a trouble spot. They wrapped up the regular season with a 3.98 ERA out of the bullpen, ranked 16th.

Their relievers also struggled in the postseason, posting a 4.44 ERA that ranked 10th among the 12 playoff teams! So, bullpen enhancement is screaming for additional help for the Jays.

Meanwhile, Toronto hasn’t spent big on elite relievers in recent history… But with their sights set on earnestly contending again by 2026, this might be a moment where they break from the trend.

And while they do have young arms like Ricky Tiedemann coming through, adding a steady, battle-tested 35-year-old like Iglesias could give their bullpen the same kind of veteran boost that Max Scherzer provided for their rotation this year.

Result? Landing Iglesias would sabotage Ohtani’s reunion scene, and the Jays would get a veteran closer with just $14,500,000 remianing for one year out of his $58 million contract with the Braves.

The Dodgers-Blue Jays clash is imminent, with a few more names

The 2025 World Series contenders are not clashing only for Iglesias. There are a few more in line, and the major one is Kyle Tucker.

Well, the Dodgers are in the market for an outfielder this winter, and they’ve been strongly tied to All-Star Kyle Tucker.

Why? Because he checks every box for them… A 4x All-Star, 2x Silver Slugger, and one of the best outfielders in the game, with four straight seasons of 20-plus homers. Just another shot in the Dodgers’ famed offense.

Meanwhile, the Blue Jays are heading into the offseason knowing they need to upgrade just enough to stay on top of the American League — a spot they barely held onto. And for the unversed, their best left-handed OPS from a player with 100+ games was Addison Barger at .755. So adding a powerhouse lefty bat like Tucker would be a massive boost.

Now, if that seven-game Dodgers–Blue Jays World Series left you wanting more, this offseason could deliver a few extra rounds of drama, even if they play out off the field.
