Something mysterious seems to be brewing in Aaron Glenn’s kitchen. At the annual meeting in Palm Beach, the Jets‘ head coach surprised everyone by clearing the air about Justin Fields’s running backs—a move that raised eyebrows. Why? The running backs he referenced have already shown enough to lock down the RB1 spot. Yet, things appear to be heading in a different direction.
After Glenn’s comments, NFL reporters noticed something curious about Breece Hall’s positioning, sparking even more speculation. Glenn said, “I think, mentally, [Hall] is in a good place. But I would say that we have three running backs on this team that we’re going to utilize as much as possible.” That one line was enough to ignite a wave of rumors swirling around Hall.
Sure enough, the NFL rumor mill didn’t disappoint. According to beat writer Brondon Loree, Breece Hall has been training with Braelon Allen at SandersFit Performance Center. He even posted photos of the two working out together in Dallas—fanning the flames of debate even further.

All of this buzz started after Aaron Glenn announced plans to implement a three-running-back committee, with Braelon Allen and Isaiah Davis set to complement Breece Hall. It’s a familiar strategy for Glenn—he used a similar approach with Jahmyr Gibbs and David Montgomery during his time with the Detroit Lions. Opinions are split: some believe the plan won’t pan out, while others are optimistic about its potential.
Glenn shared more on his vision, saying, “Once we get the players in and see exactly how they operate, I think every player will be happy with our offensive approach, and I think he’ll be one of them.” But there’s another layer to this story—trade rumors.
Ever since Glenn revealed his cautious plan to support Justin Fields with a deep RB rotation, speculation about a possible trade involving Breece Hall has started swirling. Whether it’s just noise or something real, it’s certainly keeping the conversation alive.

Breece Hall’s rushing attempt against trade rumors
One reporter posted crazy stuff on X, saying, “Jets could consider trading Breece Hall if Ashton Jeanty is available at 7, per @RichCimini.” And this started trade rumors around Breece Hall. The NFL draft prospect from Boise State, Ashton Jeanty, is one of the top picks among running backs. But it could be a rumor, too. But clapping back at rumors, Breece Hall just posted a photo on X.

No caption or overlay text was needed. Hall’s post of a monkey with a confused expression, and the caption? “What the hell is that?” perfectly captured the situation. It doesn’t seem like Hall is going anywhere. Jets head coach Robert Saleh also appears confident in Hall and the rest of the running backs, as Glenn noted, “They’re all big men, they can run, they’re violent, they’re physical.” Breece Hall has played three seasons with the Jets and has already established himself as a strong presence in the locker room.
However, with Glenn’s recent plan, the Jets’ running back situation is starting to resemble the Indianapolis Colts’ quarterback situation. Colts head coach Shane Steichen recently decided to split starts evenly between his QBs. If the Jets go down a similar path, fans in New York may not see much competition among the RBs. Instead, the focus could shift toward simply winning games and supporting Justin Fields, rather than locking down a clear-cut starter.
