Tom Brady joined the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 2020 and helped them win the Super Bowl that same year. It was a huge moment for the team because the Bucs had waited 18 years for another Super Bowl victory. Before the game, Brady gave a motivational speech, and it turned out to be the magic behind the win. That was one of the best speeches Bucs former RB Leonard Fournette ever heard.

“Listen, the best piece of the day I’ve ever heard,” Leonard Fournette said on the 4th and South podcast about Brady. “I’ve heard the Martin Luther King speech, the Malcolm X speech, but that [Brady] was probably the best piece ever. Yeah, what was your principal? I almost cried.”

The speech became a memorable part of the team’s championship story, but the full audio or video has never been released. Even former Buccaneers linebacker Devin White asked Tampa Bay on X to release it. The team responded jokingly, “We thought you were recording it.”

Though the speech is not known, many gave a gist of it. According to NBC Sports’ Peter King, Brady told his teammates, “Seize the opportunity!” He also said, “We win today, and we’re champs for life!” King reported this in 2021 and noted that it was the first time Brady had spoken to the entire team that season.

In 2021, even Leonard Fournette talked about Brady’s speech. During an appearance on ESPN’s “First Take,” Fournette said Brady spoke about honor.

Fournette also said Brady continued motivating the team throughout the week. Brady reportedly texted his teammates every night before the Super Bowl and kept telling them, “We will win this game.”

The motivation worked out well for the team as Tampa Bay beat the Kansas City Chiefs 31-9 in Super Bowl LV. The Buccaneers controlled the game and led 21-6 at halftime.

Tom Brady had an excellent game. He completed 21 of 29 passes for 201 yards and three touchdowns without throwing an interception. His performance earned him the Super Bowl MVP award.

Leonard Fournette also played an important role. He rushed for 89 yards and one touchdown on 16 carries. He also caught passes for 46 yards, giving him 135 total yards in the game.

This was not the first time Brady motivated his teammates during a difficult Super Bowl. In Super Bowl LI in 2017, the Patriots were losing to the Falcons 28-3, but Brady kept pushing his teammates to fight back.

According to NFL Films, Brady shouted, “Let’s go! Let’s show some fight! Let’s play harder! Harder! Tougher! Everything.”

So, it’s pretty easy to understand why Tom Brady’s speech is Leonard Fournette’s favorite.
