Joe Rogan, the UFC color commentator, was once startled after learning the ‘insane’ amount of money professional golfers make through endorsements and not from the actual sport.

In episode #818 of ‘The Joe Rogan Experience’, fellow standup comedian Mike Schmidt told the 54-year-old that most of the top earning athletes through endorsements deals are professional golfers.

The duo then checked the list of ‘highest-paid athletes’ as ranked by Forbes for 2016 and found it to be true. One of the top names among the athletes was golf star, Phil Mickelson

The MMA analyst, with a net worth of over $120 million, was in shock after learning that Mickelson’s earnings were majorly coming from endorsements.

Initially, they also talked about another golf great with lucrative earnings, Tiger Woods. “That’s incredible. And you know what’s really incredible about it too is that like he (Tiger Woods) went crashing to the ground. And then still by the weight of his name, more than his accomplishments post-scandal. He bounced back up to 45 million a year,” Rogan said

“Look at what he made from actual playing… That’s incredible… Wow, it’s amazing how much money the f**king golfers make… Phil Mickelson, look at that guy number three with $52.9 million and 50 million of it in endorsements. That is insane. So he is a super-successful golfer $2.9 million in winnings,” Rogan added.

The 54-year-old MMA practitioner is a prominent name in the MMA world. However, his podcast, ‘The Joe Rogan Experience,’ gave his popularity a major boost.

Now, the JRE host has a huge fan following around the world. Initially, Rogan started his podcast on YouTube but later turned to Spotify after securing a lucrative deal.

The UFC color commentator signed a $200 million deal with the platform. Now, the JRE host earns roughly around $100k for each episode after this deal. He uploads five episodes per week, which makes him around $1.5-2 million a month.
