Jon Rahm is on cloud nine and well, why wouldn’t he be? He recently won the 87th Masters Tournament at Augusta which was concluded on April 9th, 2023, bagging a prize money of $3.24 Million. Rahm recently made a comment about the changes made in the PGA Tour’s operations and his comment attracted a lot of reactions.

Fans react to Jon Rahm’s comment on changes in the PGA Tour

PGA Tour announced some changes that the fans will get to see in PGA Tour 2024, a while ago. It was anticipated that changes come as a result of an arguable threat from LIV Golf. According to Golf.com, various changes in the designated events, qualification of players limited fields with no cuts, and the PIP bonus were introduced by the Tour.

For 2023, the American Tour introduced designated events, and the aim for organizing these events was to put in efforts to ensure the presence of the top players in the events.  The minimum purse of every designated event is no less than $20 Million.

Rahm made a statement addressing the PGA Tour changes, “without LIV golf, this wouldn’t have happened. To an extent, we should be thankful this threat has made the PGA Tour want to change things. I wish it didn’t come to the PGA Tour being under fire from somebody else to make those changes and make things better for the players, but I guess it is what we needed. so yeah, it is because of LIV golf.”

This statement by the Spanish golfer attracted a plethora of reactions from the fans. A fan called him the most likable player of the PGA Tour, “He is the most likeable PGA player right now.”

Another fan called him a gentleman for being humble towards LIV Golf, “Rahmbo is a gentleman – more than can be said for LIV Golf.”

Another fan took a dig at the statement and mentioned, “Rory smashing furniture and shouting at the kids after this.”  Another fan accused Rahm of siding with Mickelson, ”He is also Phil’s buddy and is basically siding with him in a safe way.”

One fan took a dig at Rahm and did not like the statement, “This man Rahm has just/ is going to get paid by LIV.”

“can we now agree LIV is a good thing?” “Of course. Doesn’t mean the LIV product is any good. Just means the Saudis like to waste money.”
