Mel Reid makes a comeback on the LPGA Tour

During a media session after the 2nd round of the LPGA Drive on Championship, Mel Reid was questioned about her comeback and her tournament preparations. The query acknowledged her absence and sought insights into her readiness for the current year. The media hinted at forthcoming significant news in Reid’s life or career.

In response, the English professional golfer acknowledged that she had been preparing for “the Grant Thorn Invitational” and had also been occupied with “other” commitments, particularly adjusting to life with her new baby. She mentioned, “Trying to prep for a tournament having a little baby is a lot “while taking care of an infant is a significant challenge, and that she’s “still trying to figure all that out.”

Interestingly, the 1xtime LPGA Tour winner initially “wasn’t going to play this event.” It was only “two weeks prior” when her “coach” “texted” her, “are you going to play Drive on?” prompting her initial refusal followed by a quick change of heart within “30 minutes later.”

Despite the short notice, she engaged in “two weeks worth of prep” and felt satisfied with the progress made, and she said, I felt like we got some really, really good work done.” She also highlighted, “I’ve got to manage my time a little bit better these days.” the need to manage her time more efficiently now that she’s a mother, noted that this adjustment has been somewhat of a “blessing in a way” as she’s not spending “all day”at the golf course.”

New Mom Shines: Mel Reid’s LPGA Drive-On Championship Performance

In the second round of the LPGA Drive-On Championship held in Bradenton, Florida, Mel Reid displayed a commendable performance, securing a total score of -4 and landing at T12 on the leaderboard. She carded rounds of 70 and 68, totaling 138 strokes for the two rounds. The tournament features a competitive field of 120 players vying for a substantial $1.75 million purse.
