Anthony Livingston is inspiring the golf fraternity by competing at the World Long Drive event this weekend despite battling Leukemia

Anthony Livingston was recently diagnosed with leukemia. He has decided to be strong and power through his treatment and do something incredible.

Livingston is competing at the second event of World Long Drive that is taking place in Florida this weekend. Livingston mentioned that this event is really “special” to him, as he wanted an event to be organized in Florida. Livingston is a local competitor in the area and has also helped to develop this event at the Hobe Sound Polo Club.

Upon asking what gave him the courage to swallow the tough pill of leukemia and come out there and compete, Livingston replied, “Yeah, I wanted to come out and just compete in the seniors because most of the friends and family that I’ve made with them. I still think I could do it fairly well.”

Livingston then continued to speak about his motivation behind competing despite undergoing the treatment. “I also want to get used to this and fight this disease in order to do it. I got to try and build up some stamina and stuff and figure out what’s going on with my treatments and everything. That was the main goal”

“It is mostly just, you know, the people out here, and just, it’s fun to compete. It really is a great sport”, said Livingston. 

How did Anthony Livingston’s doctors react to his news of competing? 

Livingston mentioned that his doctors were not against the idea of him competing this weekend. He said that his doctors suggested that he sticks to the protocols and ensure that his body is getting sufficient rest. His doctors also recommended him a new schedule and diet. He then also said that as long as he abides by the treatment, medications, and protocols, he will be good.
