“A picture of me and Kelley (his wife), and then Baby Yoda. A bit of a Star Wars fan here in the office. There is, not quite, a six-foot Darth Vader (pointing behind the camera), but he may or may not be in the corner of this room,” revealed Jon Rahm as he showed everyone his home office during Luke Donald’s Captain’s Picks. Who would have known the Spanish giant was one of the Warzians? Fellow LIV golfer from Legion XIII and Team Europe teammate Tyrrell Hatton certainly didn’t.

Hatton addressed that in the press conference of the 2025 BMW PGA Championship, “No, that one didn’t surprise me about Rahm. It did make me laugh. Everyone was laughing at that.” It shouldn’t come as a surprise, considering how much time they spend together playing for Legion XIII. Being a Star Wars fan, he must have struck up a conversation about the franchise with others at some point. So they must know that he was a fan of the movies, just not to what extent.
The reporter also wanted to know if Hatton had any such interests. To that, he replied, “No, I think I’m quite boring. I don’t think I have any six-foot Darth Vaders, yeah,” throwing a friendly jab at his teammate. However, it’s hard to imagine him being boring, even if he believes it himself. He is extremely passionate about the game, and that sometimes gets the best of him. Fans witnessed Hatton get overly emotional and throw tantrums during the 2025 PGA Championship as well.

Additionally, the Spaniard is also a fan of video games, the Call of Duty series being a particular favorite. He also observed the BTS of the PGA Tour 2k23 video game. And apart from golf, Rahm also has a strong interest in tennis. Carlos Alcaraz’s Wimbledon win over Carlos Alcaraz really moved the Spaniard, who was 20 years of age at that time.

However, Jon Rahm’s love for Star Wars is something really special. Interestingly, it goes beyond collecting statues and figurines and has talked about how he was introduced to the movie franchise in the past.
Jon Rahm was always a JedHead
During a separate Zoom call after the Ryder Cup Captain’s Picks, Jon Rahm continued the conversation about his love for Star Wars with another reporter. He said, “I started when I was young, unlike a lot of the fans, because I was young enough but old enough at the same time to see it. My first introduction to Star Wars was The Phantom Menace, which, for the hardcore fans, might not be the best way to go in.”

Chronologically, the movie released in 1999, The Phantom Menace, is the first movie in the story. While the movie was not heavily criticized, it still remains accurate the the timeline of how the original story develops. Rahm also admitted, “But I was young, and seeing the second trilogy, Episodes 1 through 3, and the lightsaber fights and all this before I even understood it is what got me in, right?”
Any true JedHead would know that watching the black and red lightsabers as a young kid was just legendary. And back then, as a young Rahm, the story wasn’t as much the highlight as the fights and action sequences. Interestingly, the Spaniard also got his wife, Kelley, into the franchise, and that made him fall in love with the first series. Jon Rahm said, “We watched the newest trilogy that Disney put out together, and I got a new appreciation for the original trilogy.” Looks like the whole Rahm family will be hooked on the franchise for years to come.
