World No. 1 Scottie Scheffler may have won the 2025 BMW Championship, but things haven’t gone his way in the 2026 season. He opened the tournament on Thursday with his worst score of the season, a 2-over-par 72, before a relatively 5-under-par 65 in the second round. However, his third round at Bellerive Golf Course on Saturday proved frustrating. The disappointment appeared to get the better of him, as noted by NUCLR Golf.

“Scottie Scheffler is PISSED! 😠,” NUCLR Golf reported on X alongside a video of the moment.

In the clip, the four-time major winner takes a shot from the green, but his attempt misses the hole. Frustrated by the miss, he swats the ground with his club before it eventually flies out of his hand. Scheffler then picks it up and makes his way toward the ball, all while continuing to swing his club through the grass.

The moment came on the par-4 12th hole during the third round. Unfortunately for him, the miss resulted in yet another bogey. He had already carded a bogey on the 4th hole before recovering with three birdies on the front nine. Things looked hopeful on the back nine as he added another birdie on the 11th.

Regardless, what makes his performance at the BMW Championship even more frustrating is that he arrived fresh off a dominant victory at last week’s St. Jude Championship, his second win of the season and his first since January. A sudden dip in performance, therefore, has to sting, especially with the Tour Championship coming up next week.

Scheffler has also recorded five runner-up finishes this season, so he may have been hoping that last week’s victory would mark the beginning of a dominant finish to his 2026 campaign. Scheffler has guaranteed himself a spot in next week’s $40 million Tour Championship, despite a drop in form.

That’s because he has already secured the No. 1 position in the FedEx Cup standings, with an impressive lead. His frustration follows his claim that he was dealing with a sudden health issue during the BMW Championship, which may have contributed to his uncharacteristically poor performance.

Scheffler admitted he was not feeling 100% the previous day and still had not fully recovered, prompting him to plan to go home to rest after the round.

At the time of writing, Wyndham Clark leads the field at the end of ‘Moving Day’. Scheffler, in the meantime, isn’t in the worst position either. He’s currently tied for 16th with a score of 2-under-par 68.

That said, it appears Scheffler has failed to produce the same magic from the St. Jude Championship. While it won’t affect his FedEx Cup standings, his reaction clearly suggests he expects better from himself.
