Max Homa is back on X(formerly Twitter) and with full force. Two months of sarcasm stored inside his brain is now overpouring. The latest victim of his razor-sharp wit is a person who compared his game with Adam Sandler’s in Happy Gilmore.

The banter started when Homa posted that a lady called him ‘Adam’. The PGA Tour pro figured she must have mistaken him for Adam Scott. “Things are really looking up,” Homa joked. However, one user commented that it might have been Adam Sandler and not Scott, given how badly he is playing.

The UC Berkley grad has managed only three top tens this season, the last came at the Wells Fargo Championship in May. Moreover, Homa, in his last five appearances, hasn’t been able to break inside the top 30. So, this user saw an opportunity and didn’t hesitate to grab it. Referring to Adam Sandler’s character in Happy Gilmore, they wrote, “Or Adam Sandler because your game is starting to look like his?”

Now, you might expect others to back off after this. But not Max Homa. The six-time PGA Tour winner took less than forty-five minutes to answer. “He won a gold jacket, Craig. Read a freakin book.”

He was pointing out how Sandler’s character won a gold jacket (a play of Green Jacket) in the movie. The user had to bow down before Homa’s wit, as they responded, “LOL…this is why you’re one of my favs on tour!” This was the second time in as many days Homa silenced critics after his two-month-long hiatus.

Max Homa hits back at slow play critics

Homa has been accused of slow play a couple of times. It’s mostly due to his aimpoint method on the greens where he feels the slope with his feet, rating it on a scale from 0-6. Then he uses his arm and fingers to determine the line.

Last year at the Dell Technologies Match Play, Homa’s routine was questioned as his playing mate, Mackenzie Hughes, looked increasingly frustrated. But never has he been accused of being ‘unserious’ on the greens, until a few days back. 

One user posted a clip from the BMW Championship, writing, “si woo legit on his phone while he waits for the most unserious player on tour to hit his shot. going on 15 minutes…” Homa later clarified he was actually waiting for a rules official. But not without a slight dig. “Have a great day Matt keep up the awesome videos.” Well, like we said, crossing swords with Max Homa comes at a price. And, he never hesitates brandishing his sarcastic sword to slice critics in half.
