It has been a busy few weeks for the PGA Tour star Aaron Rai. After his amazing top 3 finish at the BMW PGA Championship, he is looking forward to carrying his momentum throughout the remainder of the season. Well, that opportunity has come forward for Aaron this very week, but in a way that even he might not have expected, yet it is something that he would be very happy to take on. The 1-time PGA tour winner, who is actually on a break after his amazing finish, has decided to switch his clubs to take on a caddie gig as his new opportunity at the Hero Women’s Indian Open, where he will be caddying for his wife, Indian golfer Gaurika Bishnoi. A post on X, captioned “Marriage goals 🤳”, is how the duo let the world know about this news.

The couple had kept their relationship mostly private, but they announced that they had gotten married on 22nd July this year. Fans even got to see a rare glimpse of this couple around the Master’s tournament, where Gaurika could be seen accompanying her husband and cheering him on from the sidelines. Now, Aaaron gets to do the same as he carries her clubs.

Gaurika Bishnoi’s track record on the Hero Women’s Indian Open is no slouch either, as she has won the event on two different occasions: In 2017 and 2019, respectively. This time around, the pressure is immense for her as the prize purse has increased to $500,000, and combined with her anticipated comeback, she has her work cut out for this tournament.

Aaron Rai caddying for Bishnoi marks a rare sight in the world of golf, as we rarely see a caddie pair quite as unusual and unique as this one. This tournament would be a comeback story for her as she had taken a break from professional golf for over 2 years, having played her last tournament at the Aramco Team Series in Riyadh. And she is hoping to carry the same momentum her husband, Aaron, carried at the BMW PGA Championship.

Whether this week leads to a strong finish or not for Gaurika Bishnoi, the event could already be a victory for her as she gets to experience her comeback to golf with the unwavering support from her husband, Aaron, showcasing that a strong relationship sometimes outweighs leaderboards and trophies.

A Full-Circle Moment Gaurika Bishnoi

The moment when Aaron decided to caddy for his wife is a full-circle moment for the power couple, as it was his turn to return the favor. Earlier this year, Gaurika had actually caddied for Aaron at Augusta National during the par-3 contest before the Masters Tournament. Bishnoi even took a swing during the contest and actually struck her shot closer to the pin than her PGA Tour–winning husband.

“It’s a dream come true to finally get to play in the Masters. I watched videos of Tiger winning for the first time in 1997, but I didn’t have any memories of that live.” is what she recalled when asked about her swing, showing her deep appreciation for the tournament.

This moment gave a glimpse of the chemistry and the passion they both shared for the game. Now, a few months later, with the roles reversed where Aaron has traded his scorecard for a caddie bib. He can proudly stand and watch Gaurika Bishnoi as she aims to make a comeback and repeat her winning history at this tournament.
