PGA vs. LIV has always been an intriguing matchup. And while there have been quite a lot of disputes between them, one of the biggest talking points surely has been how the two organizations treat their caddies. Back in 2015, a group of professional caddies filed a class action lawsuit against the PGA. They complained that the PGA tour uses them like a billboard to advertise. Sadly, despite earning millions from the advertisements, none of the caddies were compensated. Shocked? Well? There’s more.

On the PGA Tour, the caddies do not get the minimum necessities. They have to pay for their own expenses and are deprived of air-conditioning facilities, as Austin Johnson, Dustin Johnson’s brother and caddie, put it, “I can go sit up in the air conditioning, have lunch with Dustin, have a decent meal versus walking over to some tent and hoping there’s food in there.” And to further make things worse, if the player misses a cut, the caddie will have to return home empty-handed.

Under such dire circumstances, LIV Golf’s policies came as a boon for the caddies, and professional caddie Billy Foster had a lot of things to share. Speaking on an episode of the ‘RickShielsGolfShow,’ Foster said, “So, let’s flip it to the LIV Tour, where your flights are paid for, your hotel’s paid for, you eat with the players because you’re not treated like a rat tied outside the clubhouse-which was most of my career. You weren’t allowed in the clubhouse or the locker room. And then it’s three rounds, and everything’s paid for.”

Foster further highlighted all the perks that the LIV Tour offers in comparison to the PGA. Heaping praise on the former, Foster jokingly commented that the Caddies Association has designed the PGA Tour. The veteran caddie also pointed out how the LIV Tour pays for the caddies’ flights and also provides a last-place finish monetary reward: “And then last place money-or 50th place, is $100,000, and there are 54 players. So, from a caddie’s point of view, you can see where I’m coming from.”

In fact, if you just turn back the clock to March of this year, Foster was replaced after Fitzpatrick’s tough season, which left him “thrown to the gutter.” While that’s that, the move was costly for Foster as Fitzpatrick’s T8 finish at Quail Hollow Club earned him $415,262, a sum that would have netted his caddie an estimated $41,526 based on the standard 10 percent share. But the 61-year-old had to sit through disappointment.

Surely, Foster seems to be pretty much impressed with LIV. And this is not the first instance where he has expressed his interest in LIV

Will Billy Foster consider a career in LIV Golf?

Foster spent all his life caddying on the PGA and the DP World Tour. One of his most notable runs was his six-year bond with Matt Fitzpatrick. It was during this time that Foster won his maiden title back at the U.S. Open in 2022. However, while he parted ways with Fitzpatrick in March 2025, Foster still expressed his zeal for caddying. And yet again, his affinity towards LIV Golf was pretty much evident.

“There are no early starts. You’re in the bar with the lads afterwards, all at the same time. It’s absolutely golden, and it’s brilliant prize money. 54 players instead of 150 players, so you’re making a good wage every week, there’s nothing about the LIV Tour that doesn’t appeal to the caddie,” Foster stated back in June 2025. Now then, after caddying in 16 Ryder Cups for Team Europe, someone like Foster heaping so much praise on LIV goes on to show a major shift in dynamics in the golfing realm.
