An injury has disrupted Charley Hull‘s 2024 season! The British golfer sustained a shoulder injury during the Aramco Team Series presented by PIF–London, casting a shadow over her immediate playing future. Hull, a key figure in the European women’s golf scene, was forced to withdraw from the event, raising concerns about her ability to compete in the upcoming major Amundi Evian Championship. World No.1 Nelly Korda was also forced to withdraw from the event after she got bitten by a dog.

Moreover, her withdrawal has raised widespread concerns, as the Rolex Rankings No. 8 golfer’s presence is crucial to Great Britain’s Olympic aspirations. The prospect of her absence has set off alarm bells, threatening to derail GB’s medal hopes in the 2024 Paris Olympics. With the women’s golf competition scheduled for August 7-10, Hull’s participation now hangs precariously in the balance.  

Charley Hull was forced to withdraw from the Aramco Team Series London after just six holes of her opening round, because of a shoulder injury sustained in a fall on Sunday night. “Today I had to withdraw from the @AramcoTeamSeries London following medical advice, due to ongoing pain in my right shoulder following a nasty fall on Sunday night,” a disheartened Hull revealed on her Instagram story.

Moreover, Hull is set to represent Great Britain in the Olympic women’s golf competition, alongside Georgia Hall, the 2018 Women’s British Open champion. The event is scheduled to take place from August 7-10. This would mark Hull’s second Olympic appearance, following her impressive joint-seventh finish at Rio 2016.

A familiar setback? Charley Hull’s history of battling injuries

This is not the first time Hull has struggled with injuries and illnesses, which have consistently plagued her in recent years of her career. At the 2024 Ford Championship, she had shown a promising form, scoring 3 birdies at the first, second, and fourth holes, finishing the first round at par 72. But she had to withdraw after the front 9 of the second round due to an undisclosed illness. 

Hull’s injury woes continued at the 2023 Solheim Cup, where she reported a neck sprain before the match against Team USA. Despite the injury, she played through the pain and was one of the hottest golfers on the course. Moreover, in May 2023, the Englishwoman withdrew from the Hanwha Lifeplus International Crown, citing an illness. The English team faced a major setback as Georgia Hall also pulled out at the last minute. 

As the Olympics approach, the fans will watch Hull’s progress with bated breath.
