The world is mourning alongside American golfer Steve Stricker. The PGA Tour veteran withdrew from the Charles Schwab Cup Championship last year to support his ill father. But nobody can evade their last breathe, and the golf world mourns the loss of a star.

After a lengthy illness, 86-year-old Robert Bob Stricker Jr., father of Steve Stricker, passed away. The American golfer shared a post on X, stating his family is disheartened by the loss. He said, “He not only taught me how to swing the club but so many life lessons along the way. I owe him everything. He will be forever missed. Love you, Dad!”

Before Steve earned success on the PGA Tour, Bob Stricker was a seasoned golfer himself, playing with Edgerton High School teams in the 1950s. He passed on his interest in the sport to his son and celebrated his every win from the start. Furthermore, the father also instilled a strong work ethic in his son, which is visible in the amount of PGA Tour wins of the American golfer.

All about Steve Stricker’s dad Bob

After Steve withdrew from the Charles Schwab Cup Championship, he went to visit his father. He shared good news with fans stating the doctors had discharged his father to go home. He was hospitalized in November 2023, and suffered from lengthy illness due to age.

Bob Stricker was last seen in June 2023 when he watched his granddaughter Izzi win her second consecutive WIAA Division 1 state championship. Coincidently Izzi won on the same course where Steve won the American Family Insurance Championship.

The father of the PGA Tour pro was born in a simple household. His father was a carpenter. But Bob loved playing golf since childhood. He enjoyed success as a high school golfer and participated in the WIAA state tournament consistently.

However, he changed career paths after school and became an electrician at Stricker Electric. His love for golf carried on in his son Steve Stricker, who went on to win 12 PGA Tour events.

And the PGA Tour pro owes his success to his father. He said, “I learned a lot from helping my father back then. Both he and my mother taught me all the Midwestern values that I’ve tried to carry with me to this day.”

With the departure of Steve Stricker’s father, the golf world has come together to mourn him. It has left a void in the Stricker family and the golf community.
