Tiger Woods was arrested for DUI despite testing 0.000 on the breathalyzer test. The recently released bodycam footage of the Martin County Sheriff’s Office shows why. The video offers a raw, unfiltered look at what unfolded at the time of his arrest. Woods, who turned 50 in December 2025, appeared dazed and confused.

The Big Cat was kneeling on one leg while being questioned. He explained that he was looking at his phone and adjusting the radio, which is why he didn’t realize the truck in front of him slowed down. But more revelations came afterward. He was asked to perform sobriety tests. Woods can be seen moving his head despite being asked to keep it straight. Furthermore, he was asked to stack his fists, clap, and count. Woods was visibly puzzled, closing his eyes, furrowing his eyebrows as he tried to keep the correct count.

Another officer came to check what Tiger Woods had on him. He first asked for anything that could poke, stick, or cut. When the 50-year-old said no, the law enforcement officer began to search his pockets. He took out some medications and cash. Two pills were found in one of his pockets, which he said were narcos. It later turned out to be hydrocodone, a prescribed medication that the veteran golfer takes for pain relief.

The officer then put the pills in an evidence bag and reported the time before asking the 15-time major winner if he had anything else. Tiger Woods admitted to taking some prescription drugs the morning of the accident. However, he refused a urine test, raising suspicions. After the assessments, the lady officer who was interacting with Tiger Woods asked him to put his hands behind his back and handcuffed him.

“At this time, I do believe your normal faculties are impaired, and you’re under the unknown substance, okay? So at this time you are under arrest for DUI,” the deputy informed Woods, who was a bit taken aback.

Legal expert Dave Aronberg told WPBF that the footage will play an important role in the future. Woods has pleaded not guilty, and his legal team would try to shift the focus toward his cooperation during the probe to get him out of the mess. Meanwhile, Woods’s behavior–miscounting the steps–might work against him. Woods’s next court hearing is scheduled for May 2026.

Nevertheless, the bodycam footage clearly shows the officers made the decision based on a series of incidents rather than leaning on a single matter. Notably, the affidavit, released a few days ago, also revealed that Tiger Woods was sweating heavily at the time of arrest. Curiously enough, the bodycam footage also shows the exact moment Woods called President Donald Trump after the accident.

The 50-year-old was taken to Martin County Jail at around 3 pm. He was kept there for 8 hours, according to Florida’s DUI statutes, before being granted bail at around 11:15 pm. Martin County Sheriff John Budensiek said that Woods would go through the legal process for DUI. And Woods has taken action accordingly, too.

Tiger Woods’s actions after DUI arrest

Woods pleaded not guilty in court. For the legal proceedings, he retained attorney Douglas Duncan from the 2017 case. The judge approved his request to seek treatment outside the U.S. for privacy reasons.

“I am stepping away for a period of time to seek treatment and focus on my health,” the 50-year-old said in the statement. “I appreciate your understanding and support, and ask for privacy for my family, loved ones, and myself at this time.”

Tiger Woods, who was hoping to tee off at the 2026 Masters, is now on an indefinite hiatus despite being physically healthy. He teed off in the TGL final. The Augusta National has released a statement on Woods’s absence. Anthony Kim also sympathized with the disgraced golfer. However, not everyone was so lenient on Tiger Woods.

Renowned analyst Brandel Chamblee questioned Woods’s need to continue playing golf, suggesting it’s about time he hung up his clubs. Retired PGA Tour pro Mark Lye also asked the PGA Tour to take the necessary action against Woods. He referred to the PGA Tour policy’s moral clause, further asking the organization to remove Woods from hosting the Genesis Invitational and the Hero World Challenge.

Stephen A. Smith said that no one would care about the 82-time PGA Tour winner’s privacy because they want assurance that this won’t happen again. He was referring to his past DUI incident from 2017 and his accident in 2021. His co-commentator, Chris Russo, also questioned Tiger Woods. In fact, he even said that his friends, including Justin Thomas, his agent, and others who are closely associated with him, should also be held responsible.

The situation involving Woods shows how quickly the perception around a person can change. The 15-time major winner was at the center of attention for a possible return to Augusta National. Now, he is facing increasing scrutiny about his lifestyle and career choices.
